Despite the hardships he faced, Tucker built a life \u2064for himself, fathering two children.<\/p>\n<p>Tragically, on July \u200d4, 1865, Tucker&#8217;s life was brutally ended by Nicholas Wood, a\u200d white laborer. This horrific act, fueled by racism and hatred, shook the\u2064 community to its core.\u2064 Tucker was accused of a crime he did not commit, and without receiving a fair trial, he was \u200dsubjected to a brutal mob lynching.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200cdetails of this lynching are ghastly and difficult to recount. This marker serves as \u2064a tangible reminder of the \u200cinjustice that occurred and the need for continued progress. The memorial stands tall, etched with Tucker&#8217;s name and a solemn dedication to \u200bhis life.
