These rules \u2064are almost always bad for consumers for the simple reason that they restrict consumer choice.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n    <!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>    <!--\/$-->\n  <\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Anybody \u2063who\u2063 wants to choose\u200c the \u200bmore\u2063 eco-friendly versions of\u200b appliances \u200bis always free to do\u200d so. But these rules force that\u2063 choice on everyone, whether it makes sense \u200dfor\u200b them\u200b or not,&#8221; Lieberman added.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">&#8220;Almost all of \u2062these appliance standards raise\u2064 the\u2063 upfront costs. Granholm justify their new\u200c efficiency standards by projecting consumer savings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the direction of\u200c Congress, DOE is continuing to review and \u200dfinalize energy standards for household appliances, such as residential furnaces, to lower costs for working \u200dfamilies by\u200c reducing energy use and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-imposes-new-restrictions-on-gas-furnaces\/\" title=\"Biden Admin Restricts Gas Furnaces\">slashing harmful pollutants<\/a> \u2063in homes across the nation,\u201d Ms. Granholm said late last month while the department finalized efficiency \u200brules for residential furnaces.<\/p>\n<p>The agency estimates that its standards for residential\u2064 furnaces would save Americans \u201c$1.5 Billion in annual utility bills.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">However, \u2064this is only 0.39 percent of the $380 billion that \u2064American households\u200b spend annually \u200bon utilities, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doxo.com\/doxoinsights\/how-much-do-utilities-cost-for-the-average-us-household\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an estimate<\/a> by bill pay manager Doxo.  <\/p>\n<h2>Opposition to Crackdown<\/h2>\n<p>  In recent months. lawmakers and multiple organizations have expressed \u2063opposition to the Biden administration\u2019s encroachment \u200con appliance use of Americans.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\u201cFirst, the Left comes for gas stoves and washing machines. Now, \u2064the Biden administration\u2063 wants to take away your \u2064water heater. It\u2019s ridiculous,\u201d he said at\u200d the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 38 percent of\u200d the American people who have a gas stove or range don\u2019t need more of \u2062the federal government intruding into their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Karen Harbert, president of the American Gas Association (AGA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aga.org\/news\/news-releases\/aga-does-proposed-rule-is-ill-conceived-analytically-unsupportable-and-anti-consumer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called<\/a> the DOE\u2019s proposed rule cracking down \u2062on gas stoves\u2014\u201cpredetermined bias being used to achieve misinformed and politically motivated\u200d outcomes.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/list-of-appliances-the-energy-department-plans-to-target-within-the-next-12-months\/\" title=\"Energy Department's Next 12-Month Appliance Targets\">rule includes numerous flaws<\/a>, from the procedural and legal \u2063errors to the test procedures. It \u200cis ill-conceived, analytically unsupportable, and anti-consumer, and \u200bit should not stand.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Susan Orenga, executive director of the Portable\u200c Generator \u200bManufacturers\u2019 Association, has\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/biden-administration-rule-would-ban-nearly-all-portable-gas-powered-generators-5411420\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoken<\/a> out \u200dagainst the Biden administration\u2019s push to restrict portable gas generators through a policy proposed by the U.S. Consumer Product \u200cSafety \u200bCommission (CPSC).<\/div>\n<p>The proposal \u201ccould lead to higher costs for consumers \u2062and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arizona-gov-ducey-vetoes-sex-education-bill-signs-executive-order-instead\/\" title=\"Arizona Gov. Ducey Vetoes Sex Education Bill, Signs Executive Order Instead\">create unintended consequences<\/a> of more safety concerns of fires and burns, as we do not\u200d believe that the CPSC has adequately \u200cevaluated the safety\u2063 hazards of their newly proposed rule.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">In August, Rep. Stephanie \u200cBice (R-Okla.) raised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/energy-department-proposes-new-restrictions-on-ceiling-fans-5481432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concerns<\/a> about the DOE\u2019s energy efficiency standards on ceiling\u200c fans, \u200darguing that it is against consumer choice and would raise prices.<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe are\u2062 currently\u2064 in a period of hot summer weather but also a time of\u200c high inflation.
