Rahimi, a case that could determine whether a federal law banning individuals with restraining orders due to domestic violence\u2062 from possessing firearms violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The case involves Zackey Rahimi, a Texas man who was charged with illegal gun possession while subject to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/la-dodgers-trevor-bauer-placed-on-administrative-leave-amid-sexual-assault-allegations\/\" title=\"LA Dodgers\u2019 Trevor Bauer Placed On Administrative Leave Amid Sexual Assault Allegations\">domestic violence restraining order<\/a>. Technology industry groups argue that these laws violate the First Amendment&#8217;s protections for freedom of speech. Lower courts\u2063 have issued conflicting rulings on the issue, with Florida&#8217;s law \u200cbeing \u200cpartially struck\u200d down and Texas&#8217; law being upheld.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration has urged the Supreme Court to review these cases, arguing that the state laws\u2063 infringe on the rights \u200cof the companies.<\/p>\n<p>In May of this year, the Supreme Court temporarily blocked\u200c Texas\u2062 from enforcing its law. Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil\u2063 Gorsuch \u2064joined him in the dissenting opinion.<\/p>\n<h2>Federal Regulatory Agencies<\/h2>\n<p>One case before the court challenges the funding mechanism of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. If the court rules against \u2062the government, it could have implications for the power of\u200d other\u2062 independent federal agencies, such as the Federal Service.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The case, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau v.\u2062 Community Financial Services\u2062 Association of America,\u200b is an appeal\u200d of a Fifth Circuit Court of \u2063Appeals ruling that\u2064 found\u200d the \u200dagency&#8217;s use of the Federal\u200b Reserve System to fund its operations unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>A ruling in this case is expected by the end of June.\u2063 The court&#8217;s conservative majority has previously limited\u200b the regulatory\u2062 power of federal\u2064 agencies in recent rulings.<\/p>\n<p>Another case challenges the authority of judges at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to decide cases involving securities fraud. Previously, these cases were handled by the judicial branch rather\u200b than the executive\u2062 branch.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a case filed by four East Coast fishing companies that questions the legality of a rule mandating them to pay for boat monitors to record their \u200ccatches. \u2064The companies argue that it is unclear whether federal law allows the Department of Commerce to impose such a rule.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-figure\" style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:1200px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Rep. The state \u2063appealed \u200cthe lower court ruling to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The district that could be affected \u200cis currently represented\u2062 by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), \u200ca Republican who\u2063 narrowly defeated her Democratic opponent in 2020.<\/p>\n<h2>Trump Cases<\/h2>\n<p>There are also several election-related cases involving former President Donald Trump that could come before\u2062 the court. \u200bFederal and state courts have\u200b been considering appeals related to\u200c indictments \u2062in Washington, Florida, New York, and Georgia. It remains uncertain whether the Supreme Court will be asked to issue a decision on these\u2064 cases.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Additionally, \u200bsome activist groups have filed lawsuits in several states to prevent Trump from appearing on the ballot in future elections, arguing that the Fourteenth Amendment&#8217;s insurrection clause prohibits him from doing so.
