Eric \u2062Swalwell, (R-Calif.) took to\u2063 X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to praise the move in a Sept. 30 \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepSwalwell\/status\/1708265257796284511\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>.\n  <\/div>\n<p>He also took the opportunity to \u2062take a swipe at Republicans Andy\u2063 Biggs and Matt Gaetz, representatives\u200c of Arizona and Florida, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Reps. Biggs and Gaetz have been vocal critics of Mr. McCarthy in the aftermath of the bill\u2064 passing,\u2064 with calls\u2062 to remove him from his position as\u200c Speaker of\u200b the House.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n    <!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>    <!--\/$-->\n  <\/div>\n<p><strong>&#8220;I really admire Speaker McCarthy\u2062 for \u200dputting clowns like Biggs and \u200bGaetz \u200din an \u2063absolute box. They&#8217;ll never have the courage \u2063to try and remove him. McCarthy has really played \u200bthem,&#8221;<\/strong> Mr. \u200dSwalwell said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    Fellow Democrat Rep. Daniel Goldman (NY)\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/danielsgoldman\/status\/1708287119716758003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">praised<\/a> Mr. McCarthy as well, responding to the post by Mr. Swalwell on \u200dX with his own \u2064words of affirmation for the Speaker of\u2062 the House.\n  <\/div>\n<p>Mr. \u200cGoldman also referenced Mr. Gaetz and stated his \u2062belief that the Florida representative wouldn&#8217;t be able to follow through on his threats to \u2062have Mr. McCarthy removed from his role.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I agree. I didn&#8217;t think\u2062 Speaker McCarthy had the \u2062backbone to stand up to the MAGA extremists, but he did today,&#8221; Mr. Goldman said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-figure\">\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>House Oversight Committee member\u200b Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) said he was relieved that the government wouldn&#8217;t be shutting down, but was also \u200bcritical that Mr. McCarthy hadn&#8217;t introduced the bill sooner.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    In a Sept. 30 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepDonBeyer\/status\/1708192355730276710\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> shared to X, Mr. Beyer said \u2062he was &#8220;relieved\u200b that Mr.\u2062 McCarthy folded\u200c and finally allowed a bipartisan vote at the eleventh hour on legislation to stop Republicans&#8217; rush to a disastrous shutdown.&#8221;\n  <\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Had he taken this step sooner, it would have\u2062 spared millions of Americans unnecessary\u200b fear and uncertainty,&#8221; Mr. Beyer added.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Beyer also foreshadowed that \u200dthe current bill, which only provides funding until Nov. 17, is &#8220;not a permanent solution&#8221; but rather only a &#8220;short reprieve.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the bill passing, Mr. \u200bGaetz has announced plans to \u200dremove Mr. McCarthy with a motion to be filed \u2063sometime this\u2063 week. He alleges the House Republicans were unaware of the deal\u200c until after\u200d the stopgap funding bill had passed.\n  <\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    \u2063  In \u2062an interview on Oct. 1 on\u200b CBS&#8217;s &#8220;Face the \u200cNation,&#8221; Mr. McCarthy <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FaceTheNation\/status\/1708493053265060010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that the threat of \u2064being ousted from his position by\u200c Mr. Gaetz was nothing new. &#8220;He tried to do that the moment I ran for office,&#8221; Mr. McCarthy said.<br \/>\n \u2062\u200d\n  <\/div>\n<p>He further stated \u2062that he is confident he will hold onto his job, and even welcomed the motion from Mr. Gaetz to have him removed, saying, &#8220;Bring it on.
