guilty plea is in the works.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After receiving Trump\u2019s tax returns in September \u20632020,\u2064 the Times published a series of revealing <a years of tax avoidance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe New York Times\u2063 has obtained tax-return data extending over more than two decades for Mr. Trump and the\u2063 hundreds of companies that make up his business\u200b organization, including detailed information from \u2063his first two years in \u200doffice,\u201d the outlet said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s tax \u200breturns, as the Times\u200c noted, were \u200c\u201csome of the most sought-after, and speculated-about, records in recent memory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not long after, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/series\/the-secret-irs-files\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ProPublica<\/a> obtained a trove of IRS data and \u200bdetailed the tax records of some of the top\u2064 earners in America.<\/p>\n<p>These included\u200b billionaires\u2062 such as Bill Gates,\u200b Michael \u2062Bloomberg,\u2064 Jeff Bezos, George Soros, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elon-musk-puts-money-mouth-posts-live-video-us-southern-border-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a> and many others \u2014 whom ProPublica <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/the-secret-irs-files-trove-of-never-before-seen-records-reveal-how-the-wealthiest-avoid-income-tax\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alleged<\/a> pay little, or sometimes nothing, in income tax.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Engelberg,\u200d ProPublica\u2019s editor-in-chief, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/irs-charges-consultant-leaking-tax-information-propublica-nytimes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maintains<\/a> that they \u201cdo not know the\u200b identity of the source\u201d and therefore \u201chave nothing further to say about the charges filed today\u201d against Littlejohn.<\/p>\n<p>IRS \u200cCommissioner\u2064 Danny Werfel said
