BuzzFeed on Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/huffpost-buzzfeed-layoffs_n_60479ba2c5b6af8f98beb89d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> dozens of layoffs at <em>HuffPost<\/em>, just weeks after acquiring the liberal website from Verizon Media.<\/p>\n<p>The downsizing, which will affect 47 of the 190 <em>HuffPost<\/em> employees based in the United States, was designed to&nbsp;&#8220;fast-track the path to profitability,&#8221; BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti told staff members. NBC Universal has also <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/business-news\/media\/nbcu-media-layoffs-2021-cuts-more-than-100-workers-amid-restructuring-1234768688\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">canned<\/a> more than 100 employees in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Former president Donald Trump knew this day would come.
