Cory Mills (R-Fla.) introduced \u2064articles of impeachment, accusing \u200cMr. Austin of &#8220;dereliction of duty including and resulting in \u200babandonment \u200dof Americans in Afghanistan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Despite the controversy surrounding his\u200c tenure, Secretary Austin was nominated by then-president-elect Joe Biden in December 2020 and confirmed by the Senate in January 2021. However, his performance during the withdrawal has raised significant concerns.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The State Department released\u200b an &#8220;After Action Review on Afghanistan&#8221; earlier\u200d this year, which analyzed the decisions made\u2063 by both the Trump and Biden administrations leading up to the withdrawal.
