As\u200b a journalist who\u2019s covered<\/a> various topics \u200band \u2062written thousands<\/a> of articles for national outlets<\/a>, I\u2019ve noticed\u2063 one\u2062 subject being neglected across the country: faith. Church\u2063 membership and attendance have rapidly fallen and Biblical\u200d values have become limited in the modern world.<\/p>\n

After \u2063traveling to Ohio earlier this month to hear Tucker Carlson speak about \u200cChristianity, it \u200cwas reassuring to be reminded of the crosses we must bear to preserve our faith and walk in\u200d the footsteps\u2063 of Christ. Living our \u2062faith requires vigilance, but it \u200dalso requires \u201cfearlessness.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cChristians can absolutely get it wrong and do,\u201d Carlson said at the event sponsored by\u200b the\u2062 Center for Christian Virtue<\/a>.\u200c \u201cThey could follow the\u2062 wrong path; they can be mistaken. The one \u2062they cannot do is be afraid<\/a>. Period.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet most\u2063 Christian leaders\u200c have buckled under the weight of fear and all but abandoned the pillars of our faith.<\/em> Whether it was \u200cfear of government intrusion<\/a> during Covid lockdowns, fear of not \u200dfitting in, or fear of death\u200d \u2014 Christianity\u2062 has lost \u200cits way.<\/p>\n

As a Catholic,\u200c I\u2019m\u200d disappointed at how dystopic\u200c our nation \u200dhas become regarding the persecution of the\u2064 faithful \u200d\u2014 often treating religion as a threat. I\u2019m also \u2063disturbed at how little Christian leaders\u2063 have done to take\u2063 a stand against this treatment while \u200cfailing to inspire their flocks in the face of corruption.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve all \u2062too often \u200bheard homilies and \u2062messages\u2063 from\u2063 church leadership devoid \u2064of meaning, devoid of God, vague, rambling, and without inspiration. This must end. The faithful must rise and take back what is theirs while strengthening those around them, whom the enemies of the \u200bchurch have trampled down.<\/p>\n

As\u2063 Tucker \u2062put it, the fight \u2064has\u200b drifted away from politics and become \u201ca spiritual battle,\u201d where\u2062 souls\u2064 are up for grabs.<\/p>\n
The State Is Actively Persecuting Christians \u2063 <\/h2>\n
He\u2019s right. We\u2064 now live\u2063 in an age where\u200b freedom of religion\u200b extends only\u200c to a select few, while the Christian majority is monitored<\/a> \u2062by the FBI. Sometimes they\u2019re drawing \u2062federal attention for something as simple \u2064as attending Latin Mass, or peacefully protesting abortion<\/a>.<\/p>\n
The U.S. \u200d recently<\/a> witnessed harsh\u2063 convictions being sought\u200c by\u2063 the Biden\u2062 Justice Department \u200bagainst various pro-lifers, who are now facing months \u2014 \u2063if not years \u2014 in prison, for speaking out against the evils\u200b of abortion. Tucker touched upon this as\u200d well, by saying the point of existence is to have \u2063children<\/em>. Those encouraging\u2064 abortion have become the \u201cenemy,\u201d as they seek to \u2062twist the true nature of mankind for their own gain.<\/p>\n
Our mere existence \u2063as faithful Christians and\u2064 reliance on \u200cthe Lord has upset an earthly \u2062order of power. One led by corrupt people, who desire\u200b worldly satisfaction devoid<\/a> of God. It unbalances them so<\/em> much they\u2019re even \u200dwilling to kill for it.<\/p>\n

As \u2063Tucker reminded the\u200b crowd,\u200b \u201cIf you practice real Christianity,\u200d the people in charge want to kill you.\u201d\u200c Your faith in something \u2063bigger \u200crepresents a \u200cthreat to their power.<\/p>\n
Carlson pointed to the life and \u200btestimony of the apostle Paul from the New Testament. A former pharisee who was later blinded by God on the\u2062 road to Damascus for his role in killing\u200d Christians.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s not a letter [Paul] wrote where he didn\u2019t \u2064have a \u2062sword hanging \u200cover his neck. \u2062He\u2063 expected, at any moment, to be murdered,\u201d Tucker said.<\/p>\n
We saw the contempt our modern government has for God when it closed \u200bhouses\u200c of \u200bworship during the pandemic but \u2064 allowed liquor stores<\/a>, strip clubs, and drug dispensaries to remain open.<\/p>\n
What frustrated me\u200d most was \u2062how pastors, priests, and ministers cooperated with the government\u200d decrees.\u2063 In\u200b a \u200ctime of uncertainty, when they were most needed, \u200cwhere were \u200dthey? Locked behind\u2062 closed doors.<\/p>\n
It \u2063Will\u200d Get Worse Before It \u200cGets Better <\/h2>\n
Christians \u200cmust live with their \u2062eyes on \u2062the next life. But \u200chow \u2063do we accomplish this in\u200b a world that grows more secular by the day? We start by supporting each other \u200din our spiritual \u200dneeds,\u2064 as well as living out our\u200d faith through \u200ccorporal works\u2064 of\u200d mercy.<\/p>\n
One of the main takeaways\u2064 from Carlson\u2019s remarks \u2064was his\u2062 advice about\u200d unity.\u2062 If we don\u2019t support and care \u200dfor other Christians, how can \u200cwe ever\u200c hope to \u200bachieve harmony? \u200cNot only\u200c does it inspire those outside the \u2063faith, but\u200c it strengthens those who are being persecuted and helps prepare \u200dtheir souls for the bigger battle ahead<\/a>.<\/p>\n
For as bad as things have become, they are only going to get \u200cworse,\u2062 as governments seek more power and \u2062churches remain silent.<\/p>\n
Carlson \u200cwas correct when he said \u2062our \u201cchurch predates those governments and \u2063will outlast them,\u2064 as will the \u2064faith.\u201d \u2063But sadly, Christians remain\u200c \u201cso intimidated in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Followers of Jesus must openly \u200dshare their love for the gospel, and their hope for eternal life\u200b and\u200c fight to keep these freedoms intact, \u200cdespite \u2063pandemics, death, threats, and politics.<\/p>\n
We must\u200b also emulate Paul\u2019s \u200dcalm serenity and rid\u2062 ourselves of corrosive fear entirely. Christians \u200dare\u200b primed\u200c for \u200bpersecution. It is written \u2064in the \u200b Gospel of John<\/a>, \u201cThe servant is \u2064not\u2063 greater than his master. If\u2063 they have persecuted Me, they will persecute you. If they kept My word, they \u200bwill also keep yours.\u201d<\/p>\n
Yet we \u2063cannot let that silence us, for our suffering will have become\u2063 meaningless. If the word of Christ is destroyed by enemies\u2063 of\u2062 the church\u2064 and replaced with\u2062 edicts from government, darkness will cover \u2063the world and countless souls \u2064shall \u200bbe lost.<\/p>\n
There is much at stake, but be not afraid, my friends. Trust \u200bGod, lean not on\u2062 your own understanding, and preach the good news to all\u2062 corners of the world\u200d in freedom\u2064 from fear.\u200b Amen. \u200b <\/p>\n

But amidst the chaos, there are still individuals and leaders who are \u2062unafraid to uphold \u2063their faith and shine \u2062a light on the path of righteousness. \u200bTucker Carlson, a prominent journalist and commentator, spoke passionately about the importance of Christianity during a\u200b recent event in Ohio. He reminded\u2064 us that living\u200d our faith\u2063 requires not only vigilance\u2063 but also fearlessness.<\/p>\n

Yet, far too\u200b often, I have witnessed sermons and messages \u2062that lack \u200dsubstance, devoid of inspiration, and \u200dlacking the \u2062presence \u2063of God. This must change.<\/p>\n
The time\u200d has come for the faithful to\u200d rise \u200dand reclaim what is rightfully theirs. We must demand \u2062more from our leaders and strive for a deeper understanding of \u200dour faith. We need messages that resonate with our souls and inspire us to\u200c live out God’s calling in our lives.<\/p>\n
To achieve this, Christian leaders must be courageous and unafraid to speak the truth, even when\u2064 it is unpopular. They must lead by example, showing their followers what it means to \u2062live a life of faith \u2063and integrity. They \u200cmust address the pressing issues of our time through the \u2062lens of biblical values and provide guidance \u200band support to those \u200cwho seek their counsel.<\/p>\n
