Virginia Foxx (R., N.C.), chairwoman of the committee, in a Thursday \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Letter-to-President-Biden-Concerning-UAW-Strike-Event.pdf\">letter<\/a> to \u200dthe White House obtained by the <em>Washington Free \u200cBeacon<\/em>. &#8220;They suggest you are more interested in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michigan-ag-absolutely-enough-evidence-to-charge-2020-gop-electors-seemingly-part-of-a-bigger-conspiracy\/\" title=\"Michigan AG: \u2018Absolutely\u2019 Enough Evidence To Charge 2020 GOP Electors, Seemingly \u2018Part Of A Bigger Conspiracy\u2019\">scoring political points<\/a> with the UAW than maintaining the neutrality that is needed from a President. I write to\u2063 express my concerns about your actions and to seek information about this critical lapse in judgment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Foxx accused\u2063 Biden of violating his &#8220;obligation to demonstrate impartiality&#8221; by working\u2062 to tip the scales\u200d in favor of the union in their negotiations with automakers.<\/p>\n<p>Biden visited picketers in Belleville, Mich., Tuesday, staying \u200dfor 12 minutes and lending \u2062his support to the\u200c strikers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You\u2019ve heard \u2063me say it \u200dmany times,&#8221; Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2023\/09\/26\/remarks-by-president-biden-at-united-auto-workers-picket-line\/#:~:text=It's%20corporate%20greed.,great%20product%20for%20our%20companies.\">told<\/a> the union picketers. &#8220;Wall Street didn\u2019t build the country. The middle class built\u200d the country, and unions\u200d built the \u200dmiddle class. And that\u2019s a fact. So,\u2063 let\u2019s keep going.\u200d You deserve what you\u2019ve earned, and you\u2019ve earned a hell\u2063 of a lot more than \u2064you\u2019re \u200dgetting paid now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to slamming \u200bhis participation in\u200b the\u200d strike, Foxx also hit Biden for making the trip \u2063a \u2062pit stop on\u2064 the way to a\u200c fundraiser. After\u2064 he spent just 12 minutes \u2064with the\u2062 union \u2062workers,\u200c he \u2063jetted \u200boff to \u200dCalifornia to \u2064address a crowd of\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/megadonors-pour-record-amount-of-money-into-get-out-the-vote-effort-for-dems\/\" title=\"Megadonors Pour Record Amount of Money Into \u2018Get Out the Vote\u2019 Effort for Dems\">left-wing donors<\/a>\u200c at \u2062an event\u200b hosted by billionaires who regularly fund progressive causes, as the\u200c <em>Washington<\/em> <em>Free Beacon<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/after-12-minutes-on-the-picket-line-biden-jets-off-to-fundraiser-with-abolish-policing-billionaires\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Foxx&#8217;s letter requested information about \u2064the visit\u2064 from the administration, including how \u200dmuch\u200c money the trip \u200dcost taxpayers\u2063 and whether the trip was an official one or \u2063a campaign stop.<\/p>\n<p>The United Autoworkers began\u200d their strike earlier this month against \u200dDetroit&#8217;s Big\u200d Three\u2014Ford, General\u2063 Motors, \u200dand Chrysler-parent Stellantis. Though it started out as a limited strike at select plants, \u200bthe union\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/auto-workers-union-expands-strike-nationwide\/\">expanded<\/a> it nationwide\u200d a week into the labor stoppage.<\/p>\n<p>Among union president Shawn \u200cFain&#8217;s demands are a 40 percent increase in pay, 32-hour \u2063work weeks, and the elimination of two-tier systems that allow veteran employees to receive more than \u200dnew hires.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s participation in the picket\u200c line is the first time\u2062 a sitting president has joined striking workers.<\/p>\n<p>Biden has long attempted to paint \u200bhimself as an \u2064ally\u2064 of organized labor. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/09\/22\/us\/politics\/elizabeth-warren-uaw-strike.html\">picketed<\/a> with\u200c the United Autoworkers while he was\u2064 running for president the \u200blast time the union went on strike in 2019.
