Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Twitter&#8217;s &#8220;Election Integrity Team&#8221; Reportedly Cut in Half<\/h2>\n<p>Last month, the\u200c social media platform formerly known as Twitter announced that it would be hiring more people to\u200b guard the platform against use by bad actors.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re currently expanding \u200bour safety and\u200d elections teams to focus on combating manipulation, surfacing\u200b inauthentic accounts and closely monitoring\u200d the platform for emerging threats,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/en_us\/topics\/company\/2023\/supporting-peoples-right-to-accurate-and-safe-political-discourse-on-x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X \u2062Safety<\/a> \u2064 blog stated in an August 29 post.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This \u2064week, however, a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/musks-x-cuts-half-of-election-integrity-team-after-promising-to-expand-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Information<\/a> (behind a\u200c paywall) cited by the\u2062 left-leaning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2023\/09\/27\/elon-musk-cuts-x-election-integrity-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Daily News<\/a> claims that the opposite is true \u2014 that X is cutting its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/we-must-beat-democrats-at-their-own-game-rnc-chair-hopeful-harmeet-dhillon-tells-ben-shapiro\/\" title=\"\u2018We Must Beat Democrats At Their Own Game,\u2019 RNC Chair Hopeful Harmeet Dhillon Tells Ben Shapiro\">election integrity team<\/a>\u201d by half.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Information \u2062cited \u2063three\u2064 unnamed individuals who it said were \u201cfamiliar with the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cuts come less than a month after the company said it \u200bwould expand the team and as X faces renewed criticism from the European Commission over the volume of \u2062misinformation on its\u200b platform,\u201d The Information, a San\u2062 Francisco-based online\u2063 publisher covering\u200b the tech industry.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMeantime, other social media companies are\u200b gearing\u200d up \u200bto deal with disinformation and artificial intelligence during next year\u2019s presidential elections in the U.S.,\u201d the report claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily News quoted European\u2064 Commission Vice President Vera Jourova as claiming that, when it comes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/democratic-groups-citing-election-disinformation-already-pressuring-zuckerberg-censorship-meta-platforms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disinformation<\/a> \u200c on social \u2063media, X \u2062has a larger problem to deal with than other platforms.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>X is \u201cthe platform with the largest ratio of mis- or disinformation\u2062 posts,\u201d\u200c Jourova said during a Tuesday news conference, according to the Daily News,\u2063 citing\u200d a report from\u200c the European Union\u2019s executive arm that looked into social media in\u200b Poland, Slovakia and Spain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are obligations given by the hard law, so my message for Twitter is: \u2018You have to comply with the hard law, and we will \u200bbe watching what \u200dyou are doing,\u2019\u201d \u2062Jourova said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The\u2062 news conference was held in conjunction with an \u2063\u201cupdate\u201d on \u200bthe EU\u2019s 2022 Code of Practice on Disinformation, a code that Google, Meta, Microsoft and TikTok\u2064 are\u200d purportedly following on a voluntary basis, but which Twitter, now X,\u200d disassociated itself from\u2062 after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elon-musk-asked-point-blank-reporter-ai-going-kill-humanity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a> purchased the company.<\/p>\n<p>According to a separate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2023\/09\/26\/musk-x-twitter-fake-news-european-union\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily News<\/a> article, much of that code has become law in \u200bthe\u200c EU, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/elon-musk-takes-ax-to-twitters-election-integrity-team-report\/\" title=\"Elon Musk cuts Twitter's 'Election Integrity Team' -
