While Hunter Biden raked\u200c in <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/11\/27\/hunter-bidens-reported-burisma-payout-was-far-above-comparable-board-compensation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">excessive compensation<\/a> serving on the company\u2019s board of directors, then-Vice President Joe\u2064 Biden was\u200d the Obama administration\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/joe-biden-emerges-as-obamas-trusty-sidekick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">point man<\/a> on Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The letter\u200d surfaced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/event\/meeting-on-documents-protected-under-internal-revenue-code-section-6103-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trove of documents<\/a> related to the\u200c Internal Revenue Service (IRS) investigation of \u2062Hunter Biden that was released by the House\u2064 Ways and Means Committee Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>This summer, veteran IRS agents Joseph Ziegler\u00a0and Gary Shapley publicly blew the\u2063 whistle on widespread interference \u2063in their tax investigation of Hunter Biden from the \u200cDepartment \u2064of \u200dJustice (DOJ). What <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/22\/irs-investigation-into-hunter-biden-started-as-probe-into-foreign-pornography-ring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">originated<\/a> \u2062as a probe into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/irs-investigation-into-hunter-biden-started-as-probe-into-foreign-pornography-ring\/\" title=\"IRS investigates Hunter Biden for involvement in foreign pornography ring.\">foreign pornography ring<\/a> in 2018 quickly expanded to a sprawling investigation regarding Hunter Biden\u2019s finances. Whistleblowers \u200dtestified that\u2064 officials at the Justice Department stonewalled the operation\u2063 and left tax agents in the dark about a document\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/22\/delaware-prosecutors-hid-fbi-bribery-document-from-irs-investigators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alleging<\/a> a criminal bribery scheme\u200b between the Bidens and Burisma\u2019s founder.<\/p>\n<p>In June, the Delaware \u2063U.S. attorney\u2019s office struck a sweetheart <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/21\/hunter-biden-plea-deal-on-five-year-old-crimes-shows-biden-protection-racket-at-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plea deal<\/a> with Hunter Biden that limited his offenses \u2063to two misdemeanor tax \u200ccrimes\u2063 plus a felony firearm charge that would be forgiven after 24 months of sobriety. Shapley complained to lawmakers that\u2062 the most serious charges were left <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/07\/20\/irs-whistleblower-unanimous-agreement-to-charge-hunter-biden-with-felonies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">off the table<\/a> while federal prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/19\/irs-whistleblower-says-weiss-allowed-statute-of-limitations-to-expire-in-hunter-biden-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">waited out<\/a> the statute of limitations.<\/p>\n<p>The deal was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/26\/hunter-biden-plea-deal-derailed-by-federal-judge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">derailed<\/a> in July when the judge presiding over the \u2062agreement began to ask questions that revealed Hunter Biden\u2019s attorneys had understood the deal to include full immunity from any future charges.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these serious\u200c issues with Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss\u2019s handling of the Hunter Biden investigation, Attorney General Merrick Garland elevated \u2063him to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/irs-whistleblowers-contest-claims-that-doj-prosecutor-had-full-authority-on-hunter-biden-case\/\" title=\"IRS whistleblowers contest claims of DOJ prosecutor's 'full authority' on Hunter Biden case.\">special counsel\u200c status<\/a> in August.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[RELATED:[RELATED:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/22\/hunter-biden-special-counsel-appointment-is-a-blatant-act-of-corruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hunter Biden Special Counsel Appointment Is A Blatant Act Of Corruption<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this\u2064 month, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy launched an impeachment inquiry \u200binto President Joe Biden over the family\u2019s \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/elizabeth-stauffer-did-the-spies-who-covered-for-hunter-bidens-laptop-interfere-in-the-2020-election\/\" title=\"Elizabeth Stauffer: Did the Spies Who Covered for Hunter Biden\u2019s Laptop Interfere in the 2020 Election?\">overseas influence-peddling operations<\/a>. \u2062The first hearing\u2064 will\u200c be\u2063 held Thursday\u200b morning and will <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-announces-first-hearing-on-the-president-joseph-r-biden-jr-impeachment-inquiry%EF%BF%BC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">feature<\/a> George Washington University law \u200bprofessor Jonathan Turley, former DOJ Assistant Attorney General\u200d Eileen O\u2019Connor, and Bruce Dubinsky, a forensic\u200b accountant.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the House \u200dOversight Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/27\/wire-transfers-from-chinese-oligarchs-to-hunter-biden-listed-joe-bidens-home-address\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> Hunter Biden received wire transfers from Chinese\u200b business partners that listed his father\u2019s Delaware address in Wilmington.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist and the author \u200bof Social Justice Redux, a conservative newsletter on culture, health, and wellness. In light of these revelations, here are three related questions regarding Hunter Biden&#8217;s involvement in Burisma and the subsequent investigations:<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Hunter Biden&#8217;s involvement in the Ukrainian energy company Burisma\u2063 has been a topic of controversy\u2063 and scrutiny. Recently, documents\u2063 made public by the House Ways and Means Committee \u2062have shed new light on Hunter Biden&#8217;s actions \u200dwhile serving \u200bon the board of directors at\u200c Burisma.<\/p>\n<p>One of these documents is\u2063 a letter sent by \u200dBurisma&#8217;s leadership to then-General \u200dProsecutor of Ukraine, \u200cYuriy Lutsenko, in July 2016. In the letter, Hunter Biden and other members of the board request that\u200b allegations of criminal activity \u2062made by \u2063Lutsenko \u2063and his office be ceased, and that any investigation\u200c be conducted fairly and in accordance \u200bwith the rule of law. The letter \u2063also emphasizes the importance of ending \u2063media allegations regarding Burisma \u2064and its founder, Nikolay Zlochevskyi.<\/p>\n<p>This letter becomes \u2062significant\u2062 when\u200c we consider the timeline of events surrounding the investigation into Burisma. \u2064It was sent just over three months after the\u2063 removal of Viktor\u2063 Shokin, the chief prosecutor at the time. It is\u200d worth noting that \u200cformer Vice \u2064President Joe Biden played a role in pressuring the Ukrainian\u2064 government to remove Shokin, who had been\u2063 investigating Burisma. During this time, Hunter Biden was earning excessive\u2062 compensation serving on Burisma&#8217;s \u200dboard \u2063of directors.<\/p>\n<p>The emergence of this letter \u2062is \u2063part of a larger release\u2064 of documents related to the Internal Revenue Service&#8217;s investigation \u2063into Hunter Biden. Earlier\u200b this year, IRS \u200bagents Joseph Ziegler and Gary Shapley blew the whistle\u2062 on \u2064interference in their investigation from the\u2064 Department of Justice. What initially started as a probe into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-signed-2016-letter-to-ukrainian-prosecutor-complaining-about-investigation-into-burisma\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden wrote a letter in 2016 to a Ukrainian prosecutor expressing concerns about the investigation into Burisma.\">foreign pornography ring quickly expanded<\/a> to include a \u200bwide-ranging investigation into Hunter Biden&#8217;s finances.
