Gavin Newsom signed nearly two dozen anti-gun laws. These laws, aimed at controlling concealed-carry rules and imposing a new tax on firearm and ammunition sales, have sparked\u2064 outrage among gun rights advocates.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis is just the latest assault on\u200d our rights in California,\u201d declared\u200d Erich \u200cPratt, senior vice president of\u200c Gun Owners of America (GOA). \u201cJust as\u200c concerning, Governor Gavin Newsom has already made his anti-gun intentions quite clear: he\u200b wants to effectively repeal the Second Amendment. Sadly, his acknowledgment that doing so would be the only way to enact more gun control did not dissuade him \u200dfrom violating his \u2064oath \u2062when he signed this law \u200cinto effect, but we are fully prepared to fight back.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Teaming up with Gun Owners of California (GOC) and the Gun Owners Foundation (GOF), Pratt\u200d and the GOA are challenging one of the 23 laws signed by Newsom. The \u2064law in question, SB 2, imposes stricter training requirements, increases permit costs, and restricts concealed\u2063 carrying in certain areas.\u2063 It also\u2064 mandates in-person interviews, character reference \u200breviews, and scrutiny\u2062 of social media activity to \u2064determine if an individual poses a risk to public safety.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom, however, remains steadfast in his support for\u2062 the new laws. In a news release, he emphasized the\u200d effectiveness of gun\u200c safety laws and\u200c highlighted California&#8217;s relatively \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hawaii-expands-concealed-carry-paired-with-bans-on-guns-in-public-places\/\" title=\"Hawaii allows more concealed carry but prohibits guns in public areas.\">low gun death rate<\/a>. Paredes warned that states should \u2063align \u2064with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dark-money-free-speech-addressed-by-h-r-1\/\" title=\"Dark money, free speech addressed by H.R.1?\">pro-gun groups<\/a> or face legal challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200d California Rifle and Pistol Association has also filed a lawsuit to halt the \u200blaw, drawing inspiration from a recent U.S. \u200cSupreme Court ruling that struck down New York&#8217;s concealed carry restrictions.
