Unconscionable'\">left-wing activist<\/a> who decried larger police budgets in the \u2063wake of the George Floyd crime wave.<\/p>\n<p>Biden launched the White House Office of Gun Violence \u200dPrevention on Sept. 22, as \u200dpart of his administration&#8217;s effort to &#8220;combat the epidemic \u2063of gun violence that is tearing \u2064our families, our communities, and our \u2063country apart.&#8221; Officially\u2062 helmed by\u200d Vice President Kamala Harris, the initiative will be led \u200cin part by Greg\u200c Jackson, \u200bthe former executive director of the left-wing Community Justice Action \u200bFund.<\/p>\n<p>The president lauded Jackson and Rob Wilcox, whom Biden also \u200dtapped for the office, for &#8220;being advocates for change.&#8221; But the change Jackson advocates for puts him at odds \u2064with a major White House stance.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson has attacked police departments and their budgets throughout his career, \u200cincluding in \u200ca\u200c January 2021 University of Maryland\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=An9jP_pSlBQ&#038;ab_channel=MarylanderstoPreventGunViolence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">policing seminar<\/a> when he lamented that he is &#8220;struggling to survive while \u2026 police \u200dbudgets thrive.&#8221; That same\u2062 year, Jackson participated \u2064in an Obama \u2063Foundation \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0yvkXxhJ1rw&#038;t=1631s&#038;ab_channel=ObamaFoundation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">webinar<\/a> entitled \u2062&#8221;Re Imagining\u2062 Policing,&#8221; during which\u200b he touted\u2062 &#8220;community-led \u2064violence intervention and\u2064 prevention strategies&#8221; in place of traditional law \u200denforcement. The goal, Jackson\u2062 said, is to &#8220;ultimately reduce \u200bthe need for \u200cpolicing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2062 has sought\u2062 to distance himself \u200dfrom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/looks-like-defunding-police-didnt-go-well-in-minneapolis-tx-gov-abbott-slams-city-council-after-new-funding\/\" title=\"\u2018Looks Like Defunding Police Didn\u2019t Go Well In Minneapolis\u2019: TX Gov. Abbott Slams City Council After New Funding\">anti-police rhetoric<\/a> throughout his term, a stance\u200c that has put him at loggerheads with the progressive wing of the \u200cDemocratic Party.\u200b During\u200b his \u200d2022 State of the Union address, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GSK2I7tFa0k&#038;ab_channel=PBSNewsHour\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden \u2063said<\/a>, &#8220;the answer is not to defund the police, but to fund the police.&#8221; The White House webpage announcing \u200cthe\u200d Office \u2063of Gun Violence\u2063 Prevention notes that &#8220;President Biden continues to call&#8221; for legislation that &#8220;would put\u2062 more police officers\u2064 on our streets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Neither the White House nor Jackson\u200d responded to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The Community Justice Action Fund scrubbed \u200bJackson\u2019s bio and other information from its website prior\u200b to Biden\u2019s \u200bannouncement. But\u200d a review of\u200d the Internet Archive reveals \u2064that the organization routinely railed against increased funding for law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>A project \u2062of the George Soros-backed Tides Foundation, \u200bthe \u200cCommunity Justice Action Fund penned an\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200820103113\/https:\/www.cjactionfund.org\/pgvg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open letter<\/a> in 2020 outlining \u200dprinciples that included demands that governments &#8220;divest from aggressive policing,&#8221; as well as &#8220;acknowledge that Black Lives Matter.&#8221; Other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fox-execs-donating-mega-bucks-to-dem-politician-who-has-teased-presidential-run\/\" title=\"Fox executives are generously donating large sums to a Democratic politician who has hinted at a potential presidential campaign.\">left-wing\u2064 groups<\/a>, including the National Black Justice\u2064 Coalition and the American Federation of Teachers were among\u200b the signatories. That letter \u2064has since been deleted from the organization\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2062Community Justice Action Fund has waded into other issues as well, including immigration. A founding \u200dmember of the \u200corganization called on\u200d the Senate to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cjactionfund.org\/press-releases\/2019\/1\/29\/wednesday-national-anti-gun-violence-campaign-focused-on-black-and-brown-communities-to-launch-at-dc-office-of-neighborhood-safety-and-engagement-p8rng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">block provisions<\/a> \u200din a \u200cbackground check bill \u2063that would report illegal immigrants who attempt to purchase a firearm to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Although purchasing, or attempting\u2063 to purchase, a firearm as an illegal immigration is a crime,\u2062 the organization said Immigration and Customs Enforcement \u200d&#8221;has no place in making communities safer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Violent crime has continued to plague the \u200bnation\u2019s cities since 2020,\u200c with many\u2062 alleging \u200bthat alternatives to policing policies are in large\u200c part to\u200b blame. Although the homicide rate \u2062has receded, it is still roughly 25 percent higher than in the first half of 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/counciloncj.org\/homicide-other-violent-crimes-decline-in-u-s-cities-but-remain-above-pre-pandemic-levels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a> the \u2063Council\u2064 on \u200bCriminal Justice.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson does not see increased police presence as a solution \u200cto rising crime. Speaking at the\u200c University of Maryland policing seminar in 2021, he \u2064lamented that\u2062 &#8220;there\u2019s still a lot of \u200bcities, unfortunately, across \u200dthe country that only see policing as their strategy to address violence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Will Greg Jackson&#8217;s past statements \u2063and involvement in opposing\u2063 increased funding for law enforcement\u200b affect the\u200b Biden administration&#8217;s policies and initiatives \u200bregarding law enforcement<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Throughout his presidency, Joe Biden has made efforts to distance\u2062 himself from anti-police rhetoric, \u2062despite having \u200bindividuals associated with such sentiments\u200c in \u2064his \u2063administration.<\/p>\n<p>One \u2062example \u200cof this\u2064 contradiction is Greg Jackson, a leader of President Biden&#8217;s \u2064anti-gun violence\u2063 initiative and\u2062 former \u2064executive director \u2063of the left-wing Community Justice Action \u2064Fund. Jackson \u200chas consistently criticized police departments and their budgets throughout his career.\u2062 In a January 2021 policing seminar at the University of Maryland, he expressed\u2062 his\u200b frustration,\u200c stating that he is &#8220;struggling to survive while police budgets thrive.&#8221; Furthermore, in a\u200b webinar organized by the Obama Foundation\u2062 titled &#8220;Reimagining\u2062 Policing,&#8221; Jackson\u200c advocated for\u2062 community-led violence intervention and prevention strategies instead of traditional law enforcement, with\u200c the ultimate aim of reducing the need for policing.<\/p>\n<p>President Biden has repeatedly emphasized his support for law enforcement and his rejection of calls to defund the police. \u2064During his 2022\u2063 State of the Union address, he explicitly stated, &#8220;the answer is \u2063not to defund the police,\u2063 but to fund the police.&#8221; In fact, the White House webpage announcing the Office \u200cof Gun Violence Prevention,\u200d led by Vice President Kamala Harris and including Greg Jackson, highlights President Biden&#8217;s\u2064 call for \u2064legislation that would \u2064increase the number\u200b of police \u2064officers on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these conflicting positions, neither the White\u200d House nor Greg Jackson\u2062 have responded to\u2064 requests for comment. Additionally, the Community Justice Action\u200d Fund, where Jackson previously served as executive director, has removed his \u200dbio and other \u200binformation from its website prior to President Biden&#8217;s announcement.<\/p>\n<p>The Community \u2064Justice Action Fund, which is backed by George Soros&#8217; Tides Foundation, has consistently opposed increased funding for law enforcement.\u200b While it is common\u2063 for administrations \u200bto include\u200d individuals with diverse\u200c perspectives,\u2062 the appointment of someone \u2062with a history of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-taps-anti-cop-activist-to-lead-white-house-gun-violence-office\/\" title=\"Biden selects anti-cop activist to head White House gun violence office.\">criticizing \u200cpolice departments raises questions<\/a> about President Biden&#8217;s\u200d commitment to his stated \u200dsupport for\u200d law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, President Biden&#8217;s efforts to \u2062distance himself from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/portlands-liberal-hellhole-crime-skyrocketing-along-with-police-response-times-following-defund-the-police-calls-report\/\" title=\"Report: Crime Soaring in Portland Amidst 'Defund the Police' Movement\">anti-police\u2063 rhetoric<\/a> have been called into question with the inclusion of Greg\u200c Jackson, a former left-wing activist, in his anti-gun violence initiative.
