No! No! Noooooooo!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t get me wrong. I love \u201cThe Office\u201d and think it\u2019s one of the greatest \u2064sitcoms ever created. \u200cThe \u200dwacky scenarios, hilarious dialogue,\u200c and chemistry among the show\u2019s cast leave\u2062 you crying with laughter at every turn. Who could forget iconic \u2062episodes like \u201cWomen\u2019s Appreciation,\u201d in\u2064 which \u200dPhyllis, the older, heavyset office saleswoman, gets\u2064 flashed in the office parking \u200clot?<\/p>\n<p>Rather than console her, Michael (Steve Carell) laughs \u2062hysterically and performs a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/uR30yYNMMvY?feature=shared\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">physical\u201d comedy routine<\/a> to make light of the incident,\u200d prompting pushback from his underlings. After espousing misogynistic troupes about\u2063 females during a subsequent office meeting, Michael decides \u200dto show that he \u201cappreciates\u201d women \u2062by\u200d treating the ladies of \u2064Dunder Mifflin to \u200da\u200b day at \u2063the\u2063 mall.<\/p>\n<p>Episodes like these aren\u2019t just funny because they push past the boundaries of what is considered\u200c to be \u201cpolitically incorrect\u201d or \u201coffensive.\u201d They\u2019re hilarious\u2064 because they humorize\u2063 the more degrading aspects of humanity,\u2063 and in a \u2063way that is so absurd and satirical you\u200b can\u2019t help but snicker.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s exactly for these reasons\u200c that a reboot of\u200b \u201cThe Office\u201d should never \u2062happen. \u2064The woke-scolds running modern-day \u2064Hollywood would\u200d never allow the kind of audacious writing that defined the original series to leave the\u2064 writer\u2019s room, let alone make it to\u2064 the big screen.\u2063 The\u200d possibility of \u201coffending\u201d\u2062 leftist trolls occupying the dark\u200c corners of social media would be\u200c too great a risk \u200cfor a \u2062studio like NBC to take\u200b on.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a sad reality that Carell himself <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2018\/10\/12\/steve-carell-office-offensive-today-whats-left\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">acknowledged<\/a> during an interview several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ca-governor-breaks-his-own-covid-rules-to-eat-fancy-french-food\/\" title=\"Ca. Governor Breaks His Own COVID Rules To Eat Fancy French Food\">years ago<\/a>. When asked by\u2064 Esquire in 2018 about the\u2064 potential for an \u201cOffice\u201d reboot, Carell pondered whether viewers today \u200dwould \u201caccept it the way it was accepted ten years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of\u200d what \u2063is \u2063depicted on that \u200dshow is \u200dcompletely\u200c wrong-minded. That\u2019s the \u2064point,\u200c you know? But I \u2063just don\u2019t know how that\u2063 would fly now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more is that several\u200d major studios have already \u2062demonstrated their willingness to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/08\/25\/why-wont-comedy-central-air-the-offices-diversity-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sacrifice<\/a> \u201cThe Office\u2019s\u201d daring humor to appease America\u2019s joyless left. \u2064Several years ago, Netflix \u200dand Peacock (NBC\u2019s streaming service), removed a scene from a\u2063 2012 episode in which Dwight dawns blackface in \u201can attempt to celebrate\u2063 an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas.\u201d Comedy Central, which regularly airs \u200dre-runs \u2063of \u201cThe Office,\u201d also removed the\u2062 show\u2019s \u2063\u201cDiversity\u2062 Day\u201d \u200bepisode \u200dfrom \u2063its chronological broadcast schedule.<\/p>\n<p>If networks like NBC aren\u2019t willing to stand\u200d by the\u200d humor that put \u201cThe Office\u201d on the map, there\u2019s no reason to believe they would\u200d be on board with a reboot pushing similar comedic\u2063 boundaries. And that\u2019s what comedy is supposed to be about.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s intended to be\u2062 an\u2062 arena with no safe spaces and no subject considered\u2064 taboo. What we understand \u2062to be wrong \u2062becomes\u200c watered down with humor to the point\u200b where it suddenly becomes OK to laugh at. \u200dIt\u2019s because of\u200d that common understanding of right and\u200d wrong that humor is able to thrive. If we didn\u2019t recognize it as wrong, it wouldn\u2019t be funny.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Office\u201d is one\u200d of the \u2063best sitcoms ever made. The original series thrived on pushing the boundaries \u200bof what was deemed socially\u200d acceptable, often \u200cexploring controversial\u200d topics with humor and satire. A reboot would likely lack the same edge and risk-taking mentality that made \u200cthe show so\u2064 memorable.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the original cast was integral to \u2064the success\u2062 of\u200b \u201cThe Office.\u201d \u2064The chemistry\u2063 among\u2064 the actors and\u2063 the brilliant \u200dportrayals of the \u2064unique and eccentric \u2064characters were key elements that captivated audiences.\u2062 It would be nearly\u200d impossible \u2064to replicate\u200b this level of chemistry and \u2063talent\u200b in a reboot. Trying \u200cto \u200brecapture the magic of the original series would likely result in nothing more than a pale imitation.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the timing for a reboot seems ill-advised. \u201cThe Office\u201d\u200b aired \u200dduring a time\u2064 when workplace humor and faux-documentary-style shows were \u200bfresh and innovative. However, since the \u2063show\u2019s conclusion, numerous other workplace\u200d comedies and mockumentaries have emerged, diluting the novelty that \u201cThe Office\u201d once possessed. A reboot would likely be \u200dmet with indifference \u2064and fatigue from audiences, who\u2063 have\u2063 already moved on to new\u2064 favorites.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, while the \u200bidea\u200c of a reboot may sound enticing to fans \u2063of \u201cThe Office,\u201d it is important to recognize that sometimes it\u2064 is better to leave well enough alone.
