a recent court filing by the man&#8217;s attorneys contending the \u2062girls actually died\u2063 as part of a ritual sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland called the theory a &#8220;fanciful defense for\u200d social media \u200dto devour&#8221; It says\u200d that \u200blaw enforcement lied or omitted information to obtain a warrant to search his house, the Journal &#038; Courier reported.<\/p>\n<p>In his response\u200b opposing Allen\u2019s attorneys\u2019 separate request to have their client\u2019s hearings and trial broadcast, the prosecutor \u2064wrote that\u2062 only 13 pages of the defense\u2019s 136-page filing seeking the evidence hearing\u200c makes any relevant allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe remaining 90% of the Memorandum outlines\u200c its fanciful defense for social media to devour,\u201d McLeland wrote.<\/p>\n<p>McLeland also filed a reply to\u2062 the attorneys\u2019 request for a\u200d hearing to suppress evidence, writing that\u200b Carroll County Sheriff Tony Liggett \u201cdid\u2063 not intentionally or recklessly omit \u2063evidence or \u200clie about evidence in the\u2064 probable\u2064 cause affidavit to support\u200b the\u200c search warrant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McLeland added that when investigators obtained the search warrant in October 2022 they believed there was a chance Allen \u201cwould destroy crucial evidence in\u2063 the investigation\u201d if \u2063he knew \u2062he was suspected in \u200dthe\u2063 killings.<\/p>\n<p>A redacted probable cause affidavit released in November 2022 states that during their search \u200cof \u200bAllen&#8217;s home investigators seized a .40-caliber pistol\u2062 belonging to him which \u2062Allen bought in 2001. The affidavit states that \u200dan \u2062unspent bullet\u2063 found near the slain girls&#8217; bodies &#8220;had been cycled\u200b through\u201d Allen&#8217;s pistol.<\/p>\n<p>Allen was arrested in October 2022 \u200cand \u2063charged with two counts\u2064 of murder in the teens&#8217; killings.
