(Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A \u2062growing\u2062 number of Democrats have called on Sen.\u200d Bob Menendez (D.,\u2064 N.J.) \u200dto\u2062 resign after federal prosecutors merely indicted him on corruption charges. Not since\u2063 the morally\u2062 unconscionable #MeToo crucifixion of former Sen.\u200d Al Franken (D., Minn.) have Democrats \u200bso swiftly thrown a colleague under the bus to placate a mob.<\/p>\n<p>This egregious rush \u2063to judgment is enough to make us miss \u200dthe days when \u2063Democrats reflexively distrusted law enforcement.\u2063 Schumer\u2063 and other senators should treat Menendez with the same presumption of innocence that they themselves \u200bwould wish to be afforded if their own house was raided and revealed to hold several kilos gold bullion of undetermined origin.<\/p>\n<p>In a sign of just how warped the Democratic Party&#8217;s outlook on\u2063 justice has become, the congresswoman and aggrieved celebrity Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) preemptively exonerated the feds on charges of racial discrimination against a fellow Hispanic lawmaker, calling the bribery allegations against Menendez &#8220;quite \u2063clear.&#8221; We&#8217;d need to see some\u2064 evidence before\u2062 concluding Joe Biden&#8217;s Department of \u200dJustice is incapable of racial bias.<\/p>\n<p>As much as Democrats would love to preside over a justice system based solely on the pronouncements of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/opinion-in-cable-news-its-better-to-be-a-pervert-than-a-conservative\/\" title=\"OPINION: In Cable News, It\u2019s Better To Be A Pervert Than A Conservative\">cable news talking heads<\/a>, that&#8217;s just not how things work\u200b in America. We are fortunate to\u2063 live in a country where defendants are presumed innocent \u2062until proven \u200botherwise\u200b in\u2064 a free, fair, and speedy\u2063 trial. No one knows\u200c that better than Menendez, \u200cwho urged his colleagues &#8220;to pause and allow for all the facts to be\u200d presented&#8221; while rebuffing their \u200bcalls\u2062 for his resignation. Menendez may even want to consider waiving his right to a speedy trial and letting this process drag out all the way through November 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government&#8217;s first attempt\u2064 to convict him on corruption charges ended in failure in November 2017. Several \u200dweeks later, Franken resigned from the \u200dU.S. Senate after several women accused\u2062 him of sexual misconduct\u200c and \u200chis Democratic colleagues demanded a sacrifice to appease the nasty \u200dwomen screeching in the streets. Franken <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2019\/07\/29\/the-case-of-al-franken\">now \u2064says<\/a> he &#8220;absolutely&#8221; regrets his decision, as he should, and even the <em>New Yorker<\/em>&#8216;s Jane Mayer went seeking answers from his uncollegial Democratic counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I couldn\u2019t believe it,&#8221; Franken told Mayer of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. &#8220;I \u2062asked him for\u200b due process \u200band \u2064he said no.&#8221; Will this man walk into the same trap?<\/p>\n<p>Unless Democrats are intent on destroying the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/stand-strong-bob-menendez\/\" title=\"Bob Menendez, stay strong.\">cherished\u2062 justice-oriented \u2064norms<\/a> that have upheld our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-mccarthy-says-biden-corruption-will-lead-to-impeachment-inquiry\/\" title=\"VIDEO: McCarthy Claims Biden's Corruption Will Trigger Impeachment Inquiry\">democratic\u200d system<\/a> since our nation&#8217;s founding, they should\u200d keep quiet\u2064 while the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/youngkin-sets-up-tip-line-for-parents-to-report-teachers-using-divisive-practices\/\" title=\"Youngkin Sets Up Tip Line For Parents To Report Teachers Using \u2018Divisive\u2019 Practices\">legal process plays<\/a> out, and continue to work with Menendez on crafting \u200bsensible foreign policy solutions to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/adm-davidson-thaad-not-enough-to-contain-chinese-aggression\/\" title=\"Adm. Davidson: THAAD not enough to contain Chinese aggression\">national security challenges<\/a> in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Franken did not respond to a \u2063request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/section>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Are there any documented instances\u2062 or patterns of racial discrimination in Menendez&#8217;s past behavior or \u2062treatment of individuals or groups<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Evidence of claimed \u2064racial discrimination against \u2062Menendez before\u2063 jumping to such conclusions. <\/p>\n<p>It is important to \u2063note that Menendez is not the only lawmaker to face \u2062allegations of corruption. In recent\u200d years, several politicians from\u200d both parties have been \u200dcaught up in scandals. However, it seems\u2063 that Democrats are quick to\u2064 condemn\u2062 one of their own while giving others the benefit of the doubt.<\/p>\n<p>What happened to due process and the \u200dpresumption of innocence? These\u200d are fundamental\u200c principles of our justice system \u2062that should apply to everyone, regardless of\u2063 party affiliation. While the charges against Menendez are serious, he deserves the opportunity to\u2064 defend\u2064 himself in a fair and just \u200ctrial.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the rush to judgment by some Democrats undermines the public&#8217;s trust in our\u2064 institutions. If politicians\u200b are willing to\u2062 throw their colleagues under the bus without \u200beven allowing \u200dfor a proper investigation, what does that say \u2062about their \u2062commitment to \u2063upholding\u200b the values of justice and fairness?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2062 is also worth questioning the timing of these charges.\u2062 Menendez has long been \u200ba \u200cvocal critic of the current administration, particularly on \u2062issues such as immigration and healthcare. Could\u2063 it be that\u200b these allegations are merely \u200ca political\u2062 ploy to silence a dissenting voice?<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of political beliefs, we should all be concerned when our elected officials are treated unfairly. The principles of\u2063 justice and \u2064due \u2064process should\u2063 never be \u200bcompromised for the sake of \u200cpolitical expediency.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, Sen. Bob Menendez deserves a fair and\u200c just trial.\u2063 The rush\u200b to judgment by\u200c some Democrats is concerning and goes against\u200b the principles of justice and\u200d fairness. We must remember to uphold the values of \u2064due \u200bprocess and the presumption of innocence, \u200ceven when\u2064 it comes to our political opponents. \u200cLet us stand strong and demand that Menendez be afforded the same rights and protections that we would want for ourselves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The senator, Sen.
