He‍ argued that their actions ⁣are not only detrimental to ⁣the party but also to the country as a whole.

Gingrich expressed his concerns during a compelling interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News. The discussion revolved around ⁤the urgent need to pass these crucial bills.

According to‌ Gingrich, House Speaker Kevin⁣ McCarthy (R-CA) finds himself in a difficult position due to Senate Republicans who want to increase spending, a president who is pushing for trillions more, and House Democrats who refuse to compromise on any issue.

“The problem is you got to pass a rule to get it to the floor,” Gingrich explained. “Twice now, different Republicans have decided to stop‌ the bill from going to the floor. Why? Because each one has their own particular need, or their own particular fixation. Now, there are one or two, like Congressman⁢ Gaetz, who I⁢ think is frankly deranged,‍ who‌ you’re never gonna get. He hates Kevin, he’s not going⁢ to ⁣vote for⁣ Speaker McCarthy. He openly says he wants to get rid of him, which is ⁤his prerogative. But that⁢ means one less vote that ‍Kevin has in order to get‍ things done. ⁢The others, I think, are playing a game that could blow up on them.”

Gingrich emphasized the urgency of the situation, warning that if House Republicans fail to find⁤ common ground⁤ and pass these bills, they will inevitably be forced‌ into a coalition with Democrats who advocate for more radical policies and increased ‍spending.

“In the end, either the⁣ House Republicans find a way to talk with themselves,‌ get this sorted out, and pass these things, or you’re inevitably going ⁤to have some coalition with the‍ Democrats with bigger spending further to the left, more radical policies,” he continued. “I mean, the world’s not going to end, though ‌somebody somewhere is ‍going to find a solution. And I think, too,⁢ for example, I think Speaker McCarthy‍ yesterday, thought they had the votes, they walked onto the floor. Three members⁣ switched who had voted yes the day before, now voted no. I mean this is the sort of ⁤stuff when I was Speaker that would have driven me nuts. Luckily, ⁣I had a bigger margin. I think it’s very hard to see right now how this is going to work out; I⁣ think it will work ⁣out. But it’s‍ a⁣ little hard to see how ⁢it’s gonna ⁢work out.”

Furthermore, Gingrich took a swipe at the House Freedom⁤ Caucus, accusing them of ⁣”cheerfully screwing things up” and predicting that they would eventually ‍concede victory to more moderate Republicans.

“We have a number of members from districts that Joe⁢ Biden carried by a good margin, those members can‍ decide in the end,⁢ they don’t⁢ want the government to close, they’re not gonna get punished back home,” he explained. “They’re not gonna ⁤get beaten in a primary, because⁤ they’re in‌ districts where people are gonna say, ‘Yeah, that’s a smart thing to do.’”

Gingrich didn’t mince his words when he criticized some House Republicans, suggesting that their strategic abilities were severely lacking.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP

“I will say ‌the ⁣members who are capriciously switching around and playing games aren’t just hurting the Republican Party, they’re hurting the country,” he concluded. “We need, because they’re taking the focus off of Biden, this gives the news media a chance to talk about House‌ Republicans not able to do things, rather than talk about all the things that the three committees are finding, or in‌ a positive way, talk about Jody Arrington,⁣ and the 20 Republicans who just passed out a balanced budget for the first time ⁢since I was Speaker.”

WATCH:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich slams Republicans who are holding up spending ‌bills that threaten to shut down the U.S.⁢ government: “the members ⁤who are capriciously, switching around and ⁢playing games aren’t just hurting the Republican Party, they’re hurting the ‌country.” pic.twitter.com/ewmBLXatlJ

— Jason Rantz on KTTH Radio (@jasonrantz) September 23, 2023

– How ‍does Gingrich argue that obstructionist‌ tactics negatively impact the Republican Party as a whole?

Stressed the negative impact that these‍ obstructionist tactics have on the Republican Party as ‌a whole. Having three members switch not once, but twice, and then have‌ a rules committee have trouble getting a rule for a bill on the floor? I think this is fixing to create ⁢a much deeper understanding ⁣about the Republican Party than ⁢anybody wrote ‍about a week ago.”

Finally, Gingrich offered a solution⁤ to this current ⁣impasse. He suggested that House Republicans need to⁢ have a serious conversation within their party, air their grievances, and come to a consensus on the key issues at hand.⁤ Gingrich stressed the importance of focusing on their common goals and⁤ finding a way to advance their ‌agenda while‍ keeping their party united.

“I think you gotta remember this is the same team,” ⁢Gingrich concluded. “Going⁣ to war‍ against each other is crazy. ⁤And it’s⁢ not where ⁢we are. When⁤ we⁢ went into ‘94,⁢ we had a vision for a Republican Party; we had a vision for the country. We ‌didn’t worry about being pure, we worried about winning.‌ I think they need to go back to worrying about ⁢winning. I think they need to spend more time going over the big picture, the dangers of inflation, the dangers of economic decline. Everybody on⁤ the Republican side’s at risk ⁢if we have a ⁤deep decline in the United States.”

In conclusion, Gingrich’s remarks highlight the growing concern within the Republican Party over the‍ obstructionist tactics employed by certain House members in regards to‌ spending bills. He emphasizes the urgent need for Republicans to come together, find common ground, and pass these necessary bills to keep the government⁤ running smoothly. Failure to ‍do so, he warns, will only result in further division within the party and potential alliances⁢ with Democrats who advocate‌ for more radical and costly policies. It is crucial for⁢ Republicans to prioritize their ‍common goals and focus‌ on ⁢winning for the sake of the country’s future prosperity.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich criticized Republican House members for obstructing the passage of spending bills to maintain the functioning of the U.S. government.
