Kathy Hochul&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/governor-hochul-signs-legislative-package-strengthen-democracy-and-protect-voting-rights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a> announced that she had signed a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/one-of-the-darkest-days-democrats-use-january-6-to-fundraise-push-progressive-agenda\/\" title=\"\u2018One Of The Darkest Days\u2019: Democrats Use January 6 To Fundraise, Push Progressive Agenda\">election reforms designed<\/a> to <strong>strengthen democracy and protect voting rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Among these new voting laws is S. 7394-A\/A. 7632-A, which strengthens the controversial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pennsylvania-mail-voting-scheme-declared-unconstitutional-seeing-action-2020-election-votes-just-thrown-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">early voting by mail<\/a> that caused so much uproar in the 2020 presidential \u2063election.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This legislation will create a process allowing all\u200b eligible, registered New York State voters \u2063the opportunity to vote early by mail in \u200badvance of an election,&#8221; a statement on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/governor-hochul-signs-legislative-package-strengthen-democracy-and-protect-voting-rights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">governor&#8217;s website<\/a> reads. &#8220;This legislation represents a significant expansion \u200cof ballot access in New York State, and will provide millions\u200d of New York\u200d voters with an easy, safe, \u200dand secure means of voting early by mail ballot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yet for all\u2063 their talk about\u200d protecting &#8220;democracy&#8221; and &#8220;voting rights,&#8221; the leftist Democrats who \u200brun New York State seem to have forgotten\u200c one big thing: The people \u2062of New York\u200d do not want this.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/politics-policy\/elections\/new-york-changes-election-laws-including-vote-mail-measure-voters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Just the News<\/a>, in 2021, voters in New York rejected a measure that would have enshrined early voting \u2064by mail into the state&#8217;s \u2063constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, \u200bHochul and her fellow Democrats \u200bhave decided \u200dto push ahead \u200danyway, in defiance of the will \u2062of the \u200dvery people they claim to serve. A strange form of &#8220;democracy,&#8221; if you ask me.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul&#8217;s new laws are not without pushback, however, and several Republican lawmakers at both \u200dthe state and federal levels have \u2062filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/prod-static.gop.com\/media\/documents\/Summons_and_Complaint_O1322846xD07F1_1695226657.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> against the governor for violating the state&#8217;s constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Among \u2063those suing the governor are Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elise-stefanik-greatest-distraction-earth-begin-brought-nancy-pelosi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elise Stefanik<\/a>, the Republican National Committee and the \u2062New York Republican State Committee. All allege that this new law is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Mail-Voting \u200cLaw is a blatant violation of Article II, \u00a7 2 of\u2062 the New York State Constitution, which requires\u2064 qualified voters \u2063to cast their vote in any\u2063 election in person at their designated polling places unless they will be unable to do so,&#8221; the lawsuit says. The only \u200bexceptions to voting \u200din person allowed \u2064by\u2064 law \u2064are absence from the county \u200bof residence or being\u200b unable to \u200bgo to \u2063their polling place because \u2062of illness \u200bor\u2064 physical disability.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit\u2063 is also careful \u200dto mention that the people of New York voted against this very\u200b thing two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Mail-Voting Law was enacted by \u200bthe Legislature in open and knowing defiance of Article II, \u00a7 2, ignoring and subverting the will of the People \u2064whom the Legislature is supposed to represent.
