(Brandon\u200b Bell\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>In a Sept. 14, 2022, appearance \u2063before the Jan. \u200c6 committee, Hutchinson expressed her preference for an attorney\u2062 not closely affiliated\u200c with \u200b&#8221;Trump world.&#8221;\u2063 However, \u200bdue to financial constraints, she acknowledged that \u200cindividuals close to Trump had assisted \u2062witnesses in obtaining legal representation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Hutchinson also revealed that one \u2062of her\u2064 contacts, who she believed was trying to\u200c bring her back\u2063 into\u2062 &#8220;Trump world,&#8221; reacted negatively to her decision to testify for the Jan. 6 committee.<\/p>\n<h2>Hutchinson&#8217;s Testimony Guidance<\/h2>\n<p>During her Sept. 14, 2022, testimony, \u2063Hutchinson stated that \u200bPassantino advised her not to volunteer\u2064 information about President Trump&#8217;s alleged altercation with his \u2063Secret Service driver.\u2064 He also instructed her to use the \u2062response &#8220;I don&#8217;t \u200crecall&#8221; when\u2063 necessary, even if \u2062she had \u200bsome recollection of events \u2063but not the exact\u2064 details.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The committee doesn&#8217;t know what you\u200b can and can&#8217;t recall, so \u2064we want to be able to use that as much\u200d as we can unless\u2064 you really, really\u200d remember \u200dsomething very clearly,&#8221; Passantino reportedly \u2063told Hutchinson. &#8220;And that&#8217;s when you give\u200b a\u2064 short, sweet response. You don&#8217;t want to get ahead of \u2062their questioning.\u200c Let them ask the questions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>While Passantino advised Hutchinson to withhold certain details and stick \u2063to \u2064the committee&#8217;s \u200cquestions, she\u200c maintained \u200bthat he never instructed\u200c her to lie.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want\u200b to make this clear to you: Stefan [Passantino] \u2064 never told me to lie,&#8221; she affirmed during her Sept. 14, 2022, testimony before the Jan. 6 Committee.<\/p>\n<p>There was \u200dsome disagreement between Hutchinson and Passantino regarding what constituted a lie.
