Since the Supreme Court fulfilled\u2063 every pro-lifer\u2019s wish and \u200coverturned <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, the movement has revealed itself unprepared\u2063 for the new, post-<em>Roe<\/em> world.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/monthly-abortion-provision-study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> issued by the pro-abortion \u2062Guttmacher Institute, abortion rates between 2020\u2064 and June 2023 jumped in 37 states by an average\u2062 of 40 percent. That percentage is actually \u2062higher because\u200c the study did \u2062not\u2064 count chemical abortions, which account for 52 percent of all abortions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-402686530\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b3fd322fddb27f1d18430b1701720af5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b3fd322fddb27f1d18430b1701720af5\"><\/div>\n<p>True, the report did not reveal numbers from the 13 \u200cstates that passed pro-life legislation \u2014 Missouri, Iowa, Florida, and South\u2064 Dakota \u2064among them \u2014 but those numbers\u200b would have been false comforts \u200bsince women are \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/80-house-members-tell-pete-buttigieg-to-take-action-on-supply-chain-allow-truck-drivers-under-21-to-cross-state-lines\/\" title=\"80 House Members Tell Pete Buttigieg to Take Action on Supply Chain: Allow Truck Drivers Under 21 to Cross State Lines\">crossing state lines<\/a> to snuff\u2063 out their\u200b children. Per Guttmacher\u2019s report, for example, Kansas\u2019s abortion \u2064rate increased a staggering 114 percent while Illinois\u2019s is a more \u200cmodest but still incredible 69\u200b percent.<\/p>\n<p>Then there is the fact that the pro-life movement has not been \u200dvery successful in many states. It is true that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2023\/jan\/5\/pro-life-governors-won-in-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all the governors who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-it-says-about-us-that-abortions-increased-after-roe-was-reversed\/\" title=\"The increase in abortions after Roe was reversed reveals something about us.\">signed pro-life\u2064 legislation won reelection<\/a> \u2062in\u2062 2022<\/a>, but many of those general victories\u2063 were \u200dfollowed by \u200cvery specific defeats.<\/p>\n<p>Kansans\u2064 kept the \u2064\u201cright\u201d to \u200babortion \u2064in their constitution 59-41 percent; Michiganians passed a pro-abortion\u200c state constitutional amendment 57-43 percent; Kentuckians rejected a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/50-years-after-nixon-era-report-pushed-for-abortion-as-population-control-pro-life-leaders-release-declaration-on-a-new-american-future\/\" title=\"50 Years After Nixon-Era Report Pushed For Abortion As Population Control, Pro-Life Leaders Release \u2018Declaration On A New American Future\u2019\">pro-life declaration<\/a> to \u200ctheir\u2064 constitution 52-48 percent; Wisconsin\u200d voters flipped their supreme court by electing an abortion pure believer to the bench. Most revealing is that Ohio \u2014 a state \u2063Donald Trump won by nine points in\u2064 2020 and\u200b reelected its pro-life governor \u200b\u2014 rejected a constitutional amendment both sides painted as a proxy for\u200d this November\u2019s pro-abortion amendment, 57-43 percent. What is happening?<\/p>\n<p>In their 1975 book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Basic-Symbols-American-Political-Tradition\/dp\/0813208262\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>The Basic Symbols of the American Political Tradition<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theamericanconservative.com\/willmoore-kendalls-1787-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Willmoore<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theamericanconservative.com\/the-fires-foretold-willmoore-kendall-and-the-burning-of-america\/\">Kendall<\/a> and \u200bGeorge W. Carey argued that\u2064 the \u200cpreeminent American symbols, from the \u2062Mayflower Compact to the Constitution, have depicted a virtuous people, under God, deliberating together\u2064 for the common good.\u2062 Like so many other things, that underlying \u2062symbol\u2063 has\u200b been eroded.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6ba06021678f483fa87b4f5d8802edc7 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6ba06021678f483fa87b4f5d8802edc7\"><\/div>\n<p>Now, no matter which segment of the quickly\u200b tribalizing right you plant your flag in, the fashionable thing is to look for\u200c a deliverer. For people\u2062 in the\u2063 mainstream, it\u2019s Trump or Gov. \u2064Ron DeSantis; for the dissident right, it\u2019s \u201cred Caesar\u201d or a cast of \u2063\u201cdark elves;\u201d for Catholic integralists,\u2062 it\u2019s the\u2062 bureaucracy and the Supreme\u2062 Court\u200b but filled with \u201cour people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many\u200d pro-lifers hoped that\u2063 one Republican majority, one president, one \u200dSupreme Court \u2063justice would, with the flick of a pen, make abortion illegal, everyone, \u2064all at\u200d once. \u200cWe\u200c wanted a\u2064 silver bullet to kill the monster, quick and clean. \u2064But silver bullets \u2062don\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n<p>A \u2062people that\u2063 still\u200d claims to be self-governing\u200b has\u200c to save \u200citself. Good leaders are necessary; DeSantis \u200dand Iowa Gov. \u2063Kim Reynolds show what can be accomplished when elected leaders \u2064govern muscularly instead of issuing platitudes. But unless the people are behind \u2064leaders like this, the necessary support \u2063and foundation for their work will be \u2062non-existent.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018God, Family, Country\u2019 Is Not Enough<\/h2>\n<p>How,\u2062 then, can we\u200d reclaim self-government so that, among\u200c other goals, life will win? As clich\u00e9 as it might \u200csound,\u2063 the biggest\u2063 key to that goal will be a \u2064reblazing of virtue. From Cato, Juvenal, and Cicero through the American Founders\u2063 and \u2063today, \u2062the wise have all said that self-government\u2064 is possible only\u2062 among a virtuous people.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1a8e53afda0ba6a7022ec7e7e09e7378 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1a8e53afda0ba6a7022ec7e7e09e7378\"><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s no coincidence that the loss of religion, the erosion\u2062 of classical and Biblical morality, and the overall cheapening of\u2063 life have \u200cgone hand in hand with the theft \u200dof our sovereignty. What does virtue need to be in the 21st century? The answer to that will depend on how we\u2064 think \u200bof God: what he is, who \u2062he is, and\u2064 what our relation to \u200dhim is.<\/p>\n<p>A people\u2019s conception of \u2064the divine determines its morals and taboos. For confirmation, look no further than the current American left. \u2063The\u200b mutilation of children, the demand that we celebrate ever weirder twists of sexuality,\u2063 the destruction of public property, the vandalism of priceless art, and the Orwellian rewriting of\u200d history \u2014\u200c the woke left believes these to be\u2063 paths to heaven, which for them is heaven on earth. Their gods compel them to act and \u2064their faith makes them\u200d willing to act.<\/p>\n<p>The core reason the right cannot, in many cases, compete with the left\u2019s energy is because many \u200bon the\u2062 right\u2063 do \u2064not believe. \u201cGod, family, country\u201d still tickles the \u200cbrain stem and sells but, \u2062for the most part, it\u2019s an empty slogan.<\/p>\n<p>This\u200c situation is not \u200bhelped by\u2063 the fact\u200b that \u200cmany American churches are spineless at best and conquered provinces at worst, complete with their own drag \u2063queens.\u2063 It\u2019s a \u2063death spiral:\u2062 the more \u200cthe \u200cchurches squish and cave, the\u2063 more people\u200b disbelieve \u200band leave; the more people leave, the more churches will signal to the Zeitgeist in a doomed attempt to fill their\u200b pews.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reimagining the Message<\/h2>\n<p>There has been talk\u2063 for years about the necessity of a Third Great Awakening. \u200dBut this talk has been made under the\u2062 assumption that\u2062 Christianity, as it is \u200cunderstood\u2062 in\u200c the moment, was sufficient; all we needed was some \u200dvigorous spring cleaning, and the churches would be good to\u2064 go again. But this \u201cone-and-done\u201d\u2063 modal has never been how Christianity operated, starting from the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>St. \u200bMatthew drew more parallels between the Old Testament prophesies and Christ than\u200d any\u2063 other evangelist \u200bbecause his gospel\u200c was directed at the Jews. St. John wrote the most Philo-poetical gospel \u200cbecause his intention \u200cwas to demonstrate the compatibility between\u200b Greek philosophy and Christ. This pattern continued.<\/p>\n<p>The way Christianity was preached in Egypt was not \u2062the same as it was explained to the Irish which was \u200cdifferent to how it was spread in the Far East. The same held true in \u200bAmerica. Starting with \u2064John Winthrop\u2019s belief that the Puritan Fathers \u200band their families were called to be a \u200dcity on the\u200b hill, Christianity \u200din the Anglo New World took on a distinct American gloss. Christianity was not \u2063remade but it was reimagined to \u200dmake it alive for the people at \u2063the time.<\/p>\n<p>This can especially be seen during the Revolution. Samuel Sherwood\u2019s sermon, \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/empire\/files\/2022\/08\/1776-Sherwood-The-Churchs-Flight-into-the-Wilderness.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cThe\u2062 Church\u2019s \u200bFlight into the Wilderness\u201d<\/a> made the \u2063American colonies a fulfillment of biblical \u200cprophecy and the Revolution a holy war against \u200dthe forces of \u200cdarkness.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel West\u2019s sermon, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.belcherfoundation.org\/natural_law.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cNatural Law: The True \u200dPrinciples of Government\u201d<\/a> melded the faith with\u200b the Revolution by preaching that London, in defying the natural \u2063law with tyranny, was no\u2064 longer a legitimate authority in America. Samuel Langdon\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/quod.lib.umich.edu\/cgi\/t\/text\/text-idx?cc=evans;c=evans;idno=N11171.0001.001;node=N11171.0001.001:2;rgn=div1;view=text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cGovernment Corrupted by Vice, and Recovered by Righteousness\u201d<\/a> argued the American colonies made up a new Israel. The equivalent of this must \u200bhappen today through the revitalization\u200d of symbols.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revitalizing Christian Symbols<\/h2>\n<p>In\u200c their 1975\u2063 book, Kendall and Carey define a symbol as a way a people understand themselves and their place in\u200c history. It\u2019s a mirror they\u2063 look \u200binto to see their own essence. A\u200d reimagined Christianity and the reforged virtues it gives\u2062 need to come through three \u200dbasic, revitalized symbols.<\/p>\n<p>First, is the \u2062wilderness. Because of the \u200bfervent exporting of gender ideology, child \u2064mutilation, and civilizational rot to the nation\u2019s heartland and the rest \u200dof the world, Americans \u2062are starting \u200cto ask if\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ToKcmnrE5oY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cwe\u2019re the\u200d baddies?\u201d<\/a> No, but the\u2062 classical Christian civilization that grew here from 1620 onwards has been brutally burned, \u200dwith only a \u200cfew\u2063 green \u2064vestiges and cloisters\u200c left, leaving most of us with a smoldering wasteland.<\/p>\n<p>In this scenario, we cannot wait for\u2064 knights to ride\u200c up and save the day.\u2062 Instead, just \u200dlike the pioneers of \u200cthe 19th century, \u200bwe have to\u200c rely on ourselves and what bonds we make in our \u200down\u200d spheres.<\/p>\n<p>It also means that\u200d our main concern \u200bhas to be our \u2064towns, counties, \u2063and states. The pioneers did \u200dnot come West to save the\u2064 world but to build new \u200chomesteads. \u200bPlanting small seeds, nurturing them, and planting new ones (good city\u2062 councils, school boards, library boards, strong churches, etc.) will lead to large victories.<\/p>\n<p>If we were just in the wilderness, that \u200cwould be\u200c challenging enough. But within the \u200dwilderness lives the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsfcs.k12.nc.us\/cms\/lib\/NC01001395\/Centricity\/ModuleInstance\/93955\/Hamilton's%20Perseus.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gorgon<\/a>. For decades, the right has\u2062 told itself\u200d the left is stupid. It is \u2063not. The left \u2014 from those in Congress and Nikole Hannah-Jones at The New York Times, to the \u2064local school librarian who makes\u2064 pornographic\u200c books accessible to ten-year-olds \u2064\u2014 must be regarded as the \u2062enemy and fought.<\/p>\n<p>Now that evidence is public that they are, in \u2063fact,\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/familypolicyalliance.com\/issues\/2021\/07\/29\/well-convert-your-children-a-message-from-the-san-francisco-gay-mens-choir\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coming for<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/03\/30\/disney-producer-cops-to-adding-queerness-to-animated-shows\/\">the\u200c children<\/a> (as well\u200c as our history, \u2062our heritage, our culture, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JRubinBlogger\/status\/1425899248269266947?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">and us<\/a>) \u200bwe can no longer \u2064pretend this is a policy or intellectual or even philosophical debate. \u200cThe left wants to \u200bdevour you. Only its \u200cutter defeat \u2063can prevent that.<\/p>\n<p>Finally \u200b\u2014 perhaps most crucially\u200c \u2014 \u2062the symbol of Christ as \u2064good \u200cshepherd needs to be replaced with\u200b the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.nd.edu\/manuscript-studies\/2015\/05\/28\/the-christ-knight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Christ Knight<\/a>, the Christ \u2064Warlord. It \u2063is not that the image of the good shepherd is wrong or somehow bad but that, at this moment, engaged \u2064as \u2063we are in a warming cold war for survival, it \u2062is not the symbol that we need.<\/p>\n<p>This tension between the mercy of Christ and the \u2063strength of Christ has been \u200dwith us \u200cfrom\u200c the beginning: the same Jesus \u200cwho called himself\u200c the good shepherd also drove \u2062out the moneychangers with \u2064a whip he made himself and\u2064 is the same Jesus \u2064described in the \u200cbook of Revelations as having a sword for a tongue and an iron rod in \u2063his \u200chand.<\/p>\n<p>People\u2064 \u2014\u2062 but especially men \u200b\u2014 need a strong figure \u2064to \u2063follow,\u200c to rally around, \u2063especially if the venture is dangerous. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kxKoVEx6nRM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A Son of God going forth to war<\/a> can do that. He \u200dis the only one who can help us slay the Gorgon without \u200cbecoming a minotaur.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-20d39a0e3b67b02db92b47e4513f8be8 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-20d39a0e3b67b02db92b47e4513f8be8\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Why is it necessary \u2064for the fight against abortion to involve\u200c a \u200bcultural shift and revival of\u200d moral\u2063 values, \u200din addition to political \u2063victories and legal measures?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Ing of virtue in society have coincided with\u200c the rise of abortion \u200dand the\u2063 weakening of\u200c the pro-life movement. The \u2062fight against abortion cannot\u2064 be won solely through political victories and legal\u2064 measures.\u2062 It requires a cultural shift and \u200da revival\u2063 of moral values.<\/p>\n<p>The Guttmacher Institute&#8217;s\u200b report is a stark reminder of the\u200c challenges the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arizona-judge-allows-1864-abortion-ban-to-go-into-effect\/\" title=\"Arizona Judge Allows 1864 Abortion Ban To Go Into Effect\">pro-life movement faces<\/a> in a post-Roe world. With abortion rates skyrocketing\u200c in many states, it is clear that simply\u2062 overturning Roe \u2062v. Wade has not ended the demand for abortions. Women are willing to go to great lengths, including crossing state lines, to terminate their pregnancies. This highlights \u200dthe need for comprehensive solutions that address\u200b the underlying issues\u200b driving\u2063 women\u2062 to seek abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the pro-life movement&#8217;s political victories have often been followed by disappointments.
