As part of his \u2063conditions of\u200b release (<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.259850\/gov.uscourts.dcd.259850.6.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>), Mr. Epps was \u200dordered to stay away \u2062from Washington D.C., except for court hearings.<\/div>\n<h2>Videos \u200bKey in Case<\/h2>\n<p>Since his photograph was mysteriously removed from the FBI\u2019s Jan. 6 most-wanted website, there has been widespread speculation about Mr. \u200cEpps.\u2064 He is one of the few \u200cindividuals whose photos have been taken down from the site since Jan. 7, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Public discussion about \u200cMr. Epps has been fueled by videos from Jan. 5 and 6,\u200c in which he can be seen encouraging people to enter\u2064 the Capitol\u2063 on Jan. 6.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The first instance occurred on the night of Jan. 5 on Black Lives Matter \u200bPlaza, where he told protesters, \u201cIn fact tomorrow\u2014I\u2063 don\u2019t\u2063 even like to say it because \u2063I\u2019ll\u2064 be \u2064arrested\u2014we need to\u2062 go in to the\u200c Capitol.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Videos\u2064 also showed Mr. Epps near the Washington Monument on Jan. 6, using a bullhorn to urge protesters\u200d to go to the Capitol\u2064 after President Donald J. Trump\u2019s speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs\u200d soon as \u2062President Trump \u2062is finished speaking, we are going to the Capitol,\u201d Mr. Epps shouted. \u201cIt\u2019s that direction. That\u2019s where our true problems lie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Epps was seen near\u2062 the front of\u200b the crowd at the first breach of\u200c police lines on the Capitol\u2019s west front just\u2064 before 1 p.m. that day. He approached protester Ryan Samsel and whispered something in his ear just before\u200c the crowd knocked down the barricades.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\u201cIn separate consensual FBI interviews, both Epps and Samsel stated that Epps said something to the effect of, \u2018Dude, relax. (FBI.gov\/Wayback Machine)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mr. Epps occupied a similar position\u200b at the second and third breach points.<\/p>\n<p>He was also part of a \u2063crowd \u200dthat hoisted a giant fabric Trump \u200bbanner in a heavy metal frame \u200cand pushed it at the police\u200d line.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEpps briefly placed both of his hands on the sign\u2019s fabric and\/or frame,\u201d \u200cthe \u2062statement of offense read. \u201cOnce the sign was beyond his reach,\u200b Epps pointed forward, toward the \u2063line of police officers, several times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A number of protesters\u200d who took \u2064part in the \u2064sign-hoisting were charged with assault on police with a deadly or \u200bdangerous weapon.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence \u2064from Metropolitan Police Department body cameras showed Mr. Epps numerous times intervening between protesters and police, \u200curging calm and trying to prevent \u2063violence.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">During an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/ray-epps-told-fbi-he-expected-a-bomb-attack-near-the-capitol-on-january-6-documents-show_4655405.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview with \u2064the FBI<\/a> in March 2021, \u2062Mr. Epps admitted\u2064 to trespassing\u2064 on Jan.\u2062 6 but claimed his motivation \u200dwas to de-escalate the crowds.<\/div>\n<p>Mr. Epps \u200dwas not arrested, and his case was not sealed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ray-epps-pleads-guilty-to-single-petty-misdemeanor-count\/\" title=\"Ray Epps admits guilt to one minor misdemeanor charge.\">magistrate judge prior<\/a> to the execution of an arrest warrant.
