when \u200dit comes \u200bto their stance on abortion, not asking them\u2064 to be convinced by any specific proposal.\u200d But, he added, Republicans &#8220;have to win \u2062elections&#8221; by speaking more \u2062clearly about abortion. \u200bHe denounced the no-limit abortion\u200b policies that Democrats favor as &#8220;radical.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to expose the\u200d Democrats \u2026 as being the true radicals. They\u2019re \u200dthe radicals. Pro-lifers aren\u2019t the radicals,\u201d President Trump said. \u201cIn order to win in 2024, Republicans must learn how to properly talk about \u2063abortion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>One such example is Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who campaigned for the\u200b governor&#8217;s seat on a no exceptions pro-life platform. Political opponents cast him as a radical, releasing a recent video ad in which a childhood rape \u200bsurvivor looks directly into the camera and addresses Mr. Cameron,\u200b telling him &#8220;to tell a 12 year-old-girl she must have the baby of her stepfather who \u200draped \u2062her is unthinkable.&#8221; Mr. Cameron has since changed his\u200c tune, saying he would support adding exceptions \u200dfor \u2063rape \u200band incest.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>No\u2063 Ban?<\/h2>\n<p>During the NBC interview\u2064 he directly answered &#8220;no&#8221;\u200d when asked whether he would sign\u200c a 15 week federal ban\u2014something other GOP candidates have pushed for\u2014saying that\u200d he would not commit to any policy\u200b before bringing \u2063more people into the room for\u2062 a discussion.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The former president \u2062claimed \u2063credit for overturning Roe v. Wade, as he had made\u2062 three appointments to the Supreme Court that ultimately \u200bruled on Dobbs\u2063 v. Jackson last \u200cyear. That ruling returned \u200bpower back to the states to legislate on abortion as they choose. It&#8217;s not clear\u2063 that taking power away from the states again \u2062after just\u2062 a few\u200c years with the signing of a new federal law \u200dwould be something \u200chis supporters want.<\/p>\n<p>After the ruling, several states quickly introduced bans on abortion.<\/p>\n<p>However,\u200d in many states those laws have been blocked, by governors\u2062 and \u2062lawsuits,\u200d sometimes even\u2063 before \u200bthey went into effect.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Iowa is a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/iowa-signs-abortion-ban-for-2nd-time-amid-legal-challenges-5395088\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> prime example<\/a>\u2014it passed a six-week ban in\u200d 2018, and the law still hasn&#8217;t been able to take effect.\n<\/div>\n<p>After\u2062 years of Iowa&#8217;s law being\u2062 tied up in court after court, the Republican legislature passed a second six-week ban\u200c bill this\u200c summer. \u2062The Republican governor has signed an abortion ban twice. The newest iteration of the law was immediately challenged\u2064 in court and\u200b is \u200bstill subject to a ruling; meanwhile \u200bthe state currently allows abortion up to around 20 weeks, just before \u200ca\u2064 fetus becomes viable outside \u200bof the womb.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-figure\" style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"aligncenter\"><figcaption>President Donald \u2064Trump and Iowa Gov. The public is increasingly identifying as &#8220;pro-choice,&#8221; but they do not favor unrestricted\u200d abortions. Even 9 percent of self\u200c identified &#8220;pro-choice&#8221; voters \u2062said they thought abortion was morally wrong, though they believed it should be\u2064 legal, according to \u20632023 Gallup data.\n<\/div>\n<p>Most Americans, and reflected in most \u2063abortion\u2062 ban laws, support exceptions \u200bfor rape, incest, and when the life\u200d of the mother is at stake. The majority\u201451 \u200dpercent\u2014favor abortions\u2063 being legal, \u200dbut with restrictions, according\u200c to\u2063 a\u200b Gallup \u200bpoll. Only 34 percent of\u200b voters\u2062 said \u2064they thought abortion should\u200d be legal \u2064under all circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Support dropped when\u2062 pollsters added\u2064 timelines to the questions. \u2063While\u2064 69 percent thought abortion should be legal in the first \u2062trimester, only 37 percent said it should be legal in the second\u200b trimester, and 22 percent in the third.<\/p>\n<p>Pew Research Center ran similar \u2064surveys in 2022, before the Dobbs decision, and found lower support for abortion, with \u200donly 19 \u200bpercent saying it should be legal with no \u2062exceptions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>This change in may\u200d reflect an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/religion\/2022\/05\/06\/americas-abortion-quandary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unfavorable<\/a> opinion toward punishments\u2062 for\u2062 those who have abortions; the Pew poll found \u2062that 50 percent of voters said the women should face penalties, compared to 60 percent saying \u200dthe provider who\u200d performed\u2064 the abortion should face penalties.\n<\/div>\n<p>Tudor Dixon, a Republican who \u2063ran for and lost the governor&#8217;s seat in Michigan last year, recently \u200bsaid\u2063 on a podcast that President Trump gave her advice on abortion policy that she failed to take.<\/p>\n<p>He had told her to \u201ctalk \u2063differently about abortion\u201d when she\u200d took a hardline, no-exceptions approach, and she told President\u2063 Trump\u2062 &#8220;you were absolutely right&#8221; afterward.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan originally\u200c had penalties for those providing abortions, \u2062with exceptions for rape, incest, and to save\u200d the life of the mother.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Ms. Dixon \u200blost the seat to Democrat Gretchen Whitmer, who was joined by abortion\u2063 activist groups \u2062like Planned Parenthood and Emily&#8217;s List when she signed a bill repealing the state&#8217;s abortion laws. \u200dShe called it &#8220;good economics,&#8221; and has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/amid-abortion-backlash-trump-has-advice-for-iowans\/\" title=\"Trump offers advice to Iowans amidst abortion backlash.\">run ads promoting abortion<\/a> in her effort to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/michigan-gov-whitmer-promotes-abortion-access-in-effort-to-rebuild-state-population-5479453\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recruit \u200dred state residents<\/a> \u200c to \u2063move to Michigan and &#8220;enjoy your right to reproductive freedom.&#8221;\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> What concerns do \u2064some pro-life supporters have \u2064regarding Trump&#8217;s prioritization of\u2063 pro-life policies?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Victim criticizes his stance on \u2062abortion.
