When you want someone to respond, \u2063you kind of have\u200d to indicate that there might be something negative and then \u200cyou get them to engage.&#8221; Heil did not respond \u2063to a request for comment\u200d regarding which of Portnoy&#8217;s comments \u2062she was referring to as misogynistic, what behavior she was referring\u200b to as &#8220;problematic,&#8221;\u2064 and whether\u200d she considers \u2064this a standard and ethical\u200b tool of reporting. A\u2062 spokesman \u2064for the \u2063paper did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The Barstool Sports owner, \u200cwho insists he is not political, has nonetheless turned into a \u200clightning rod for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-condemns-d-c-demonstrators-despite-past-encouragement-of-violent-blm-mobs\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris condemns D.C. demonstrators despite past encouragement of violent BLM mobs\">left-wing activists<\/a> \u2062and writers \u2064over his brash persona and friendly relationship with \u200dRepublicans, including Tucker\u200d Carlson and former president\u200b Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Heil initially told the <em>Washington Free \u200dBeacon<\/em> that she \u200dwould comment on her \u200binteraction with Portnoy.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the filmed interaction, Portnoy and Heil agreed to\u200b speak again the following morning. But the next day, according <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stoolpresidente\/status\/1704642573975839018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to Portnoy<\/a>, \u200dHeil asked to push the\u200d call to close of business on \u200bthe evening before the\u200d story was set to be published.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The craziest thing about this @OneBiteFest controversy is the very\u2062 few losers complaining about it never had any intention of going,&#8221; Portnoy wrote \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stoolpresidente\/status\/1704912030090559536\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on Twitter<\/a>. &#8220;Their only goal is to hurt all the \u2064pizzerias and small businesses involved because they don&#8217;t like me. \u2064How delusional and selfish can you be?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The One Bite\u2064 Pizza Festival, which will be held Saturday in New York City, will feature more than 35 &#8220;legendary \u2064pizzerias,&#8221;\u2063 according to the event&#8217;s website.\u200d Ticket holders will be able\u200d to enjoy &#8220;unlimited complimentary pizza from 35+ of the best pizzerias in America.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The \u200d <em>Free Beacon<\/em> has reported on the <em>Post<\/em>&#8216;s history \u200cof partisanship, including a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/media\/the-anatomy-of-a-washington-post-smear-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">smear campaign<\/a> \u2062against a federal judge. The paper&#8217;s new CEO, former Amazon board member \u200cPatricia Stonesifer, has <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/media\/washington-post-ceo-has-funneled-hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars-to-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">donated hundreds<\/a> of thousands of dollars to\u2062 Democratic politicians.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Did the \u200bWashington Post have a responsibility to verify the accuracy \u2064of the accusations before publishing them?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Ically correct, \u2063criticized the \u2062\u200b<em>Washington \u2062Post<\/em> for using what he called &#8220;dirty tactics&#8221;\u2064 to \u200bdiscredit him and his event.\u200b He\u200b argued that the paper should \u2063focus on \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-dave-portnoy-goes-head-to-head-with-washington-posts-emily-heil\/\" title=\"VIDEO: Dave Portnoy vs. Washington Post's Emily Heil\">covering\u2063 legitimate news stories<\/a> instead of \u2064trying to smear him\u2062 with baseless accusations.<\/p>\n<p>This incident raises several important questions about journalistic ethics and the role of the media \u200din reporting on public figures.
