ERIC was created by David Becker, a former\u2064 attorney \u200dfor Pew Charitable Trusts and a former prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice.<\/span>\n  <\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n    <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2022, Verity Vote published findings of an investigation revealing ties between the ERIC system and an \u200bNGO funded by Mark and Chan Zuckerberg.<\/span>\n  <\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n    <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other states that have \u200ddiscontinued the use\u2063 of the ERIC system include Florida, Louisiana, West Virginia, \u2064Missouri, Ohio, Iowa, Virginia, and Arizona. Texas and Wisconsin are considering legislation to\u2063 terminate its \u2062use for validating voter rolls.<\/span>\n  <\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n    <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some states have raised\u2064 concerns about restricted data sharing under the ERIC system, including a rule that prohibits \u2063member states from identifying registered voters as non-citizens.<\/span>\n  <\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n    <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, Alabama and other\u2064 states have\u2062 accused ERIC of collecting sensitive \u2062information on minors who are not yet eligible to \u200dvote, raising questions \u2063about the system&#8217;s practices.<\/span>\n  <\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n    <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approximately 25 states still utilize \u2064the ERIC system, which \u2064some \u2064believe is deeply flawed and may have influenced \u200dthe outcome\u2062 of the 2020 presidential \u2063election. No employees, no servers, no ERIC presence whatsoever.
