You&#8217;re not going to get every single thing that you want,&#8221; Mr. Perry told reporters. He added that his approach to those unhappy with the provisions of the bill would be to engage them in conversation.<\/p>\n<p>Some Republican members\u200b have expressed dissatisfaction \u200cwith the continuing resolution for multiple reasons, \u2064including concerns that it would perpetuate\u200d Democrats&#8217;\u200d spending priorities and objections to the\u2062 bundling of spending decisions into a single, take-it-or-leave-it proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) stated that defeating \u200cthe continuing resolution was his\u2063 &#8220;sole focus&#8221; for the week, advocating for individual consideration and open amendment of spending bills.<\/p>\n<p>The bill H.R. 5525, put forward by Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), \u2062a member of the House Freedom Caucus, and \u2064co-sponsored by Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.), chair of the Main Street Caucus, aims to avoid a \u2063government \u200bshutdown if the House and Senate fail to pass 12 appropriations bills and reconcile their separate versions by\u2064 September 30.<\/p>\n<p>The bill \u2064would extend government \u2063funding for 31 days while\u2064 cutting most non-defense discretionary spending by just over\u200d 8\u200d percent.
