Chip Roy (R-TX) and his introduction of legislation to repeal the FACE Act. This law makes it a federal crime to block access to abortion clinics.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;But \u200bfor the courageous and sacrificial actions of Lauren Handy\u2064 and her \u200dcolleagues, this bill would probably\u200d have never seen the \u2062light of \u200dday,&#8221; \u2063Steve Crampton of the Thomas More \u200bSociety\u200d told the Washington Examiner. &#8220;May it \u200dbe the beginning \u200cof a movement to \u200brestore limited government and ordered liberty\u2062 in our land.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Roy&#8217;s Bill Aims to Restore Limited \u200cGovernment and Ordered Liberty<\/h3>\n<p>Roy&#8217;s bill specifically targets the Freedom of \u2063Access\u2062 to Clinic Entrances Act, which prohibits threats of force, obstruction, and property damage intended to interfere with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/delaware-attorney-general-sues-town-over-ordinance-requiring-dignified-disposal-of-fetal-remains\/\" title=\"Delaware Attorney General Sues Town over Ordinance Requiring \u2018Dignified Disposal\u2019 of Fetal Remains\">reproductive healthcare services<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Handy, the director of activism for the left-wing group Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising, was convicted under the FACE Act as the lead organizer of a protest at the Washington Sugi-Clinic in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Colleen \u200dKollar-Kotelly, appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1997, made an unexpected ruling \u200bin Handy&#8217;s case. She decided\u200b to keep Handy \u200dand the four other defendants in custody until sentencing because the jury determined that their protest was not \u200c&#8221;entirely nonviolent&#8221; due to a clinic worker \u200bsustaining an ankle injury.<\/p>\n<p>Crampton and his colleague, Martin Cannon, plan to file an appeal arguing that the FACE Act is no longer applicable since the Supreme Court overturned Roe \u2062v. Wade. They believe this decision eliminated the federal government&#8217;s interest in protecting access to abortion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our Constitution separates power between the federal government and the states for a reason, and we ignore that safeguard at our own peril,&#8221; Roy stated. &#8220;The FACE Act is an unconstitutional federal \u2064takeover of state police powers; it must be repealed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Roy will be joined by Sen.
