(Matthew Hatcher\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>Autoworkers Demand Massive\u200b Pay Raise<\/h2>\n<p>UAW has\u2062 been demanding a \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ntd-evening-news-full-broadcast-sept-15\/\" title=\"NTD Evening News: Sept. 15 Broadcast\">40 percent pay raise<\/a> for its members, \u2062pointing out that\u2062 Ford&#8217;s annual gross profits have risen by 34 percent and GM&#8217;s \u200cby\u200c 50 percent since \u200b2019.\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;The reason we asked for a 40 percent pay increase is because in the last four years alone, \u200bCEO \u200bpay\u2064 has \u2063gone up by 40 percent. They&#8217;re already \u200bmillionaires,&#8221; stated Mr. Fain, emphasizing that their demands are justified.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re asking \u200cfor our \u2063fair share\u200d in this economy and the rewards of our\u200c hard\u200d work,&#8221; he argued.<\/p>\n<p>Other items sought by the UAW include a new 32-hour workweek for\u200b 40\u200b hours of pay and \u200bexpanded pension\u2064 benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The union also called for the\u2063 elimination of seniority-based wage tiers, which were implemented by\u2063 automakers during the Great \u200bRecession to cut \u2064costs.<\/p>\n<p>Stellantis has agreed to eliminate \u2062wage tiers for certain\u200c workers and reduce the hourly wage progression timeline to four\u2062 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This would bring\u2063 all current full-time hourly workers to the top rate during \u200cthe next agreement,&#8221; the company\u200b stated.<\/p>\n<p>Stellantis has also offered additional measures to protect \u200cagainst \u200binflation and over $1 billion in retirement\u200b security \u200cimprovements.<\/p>\n<p>The automaker criticized the UAW&#8217;s portrayal \u2062of its plans to close or sell 18 facilities, \u200bstating that it \u2064intends to run parts distribution\u200c centers more efficiently as it transitions to producing electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The Detroit firm has\u200c also assured that jobs in these plants will be preserved.<\/p>\n<h2>Negotiations Remain in Deadlock<\/h2>\n<p>While negotiations with Stellantis have reached a deadlock, the UAW has described its\u200d negotiations with Ford \u200das &#8220;reasonably productive.&#8221;\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>However, Mr.\u200c Fain criticized the automakers&#8217; attempts to play hardball, accusing them of threatening to lay off nonunion workers to pressure union\u200b members into settling for less.<\/p>\n<p>GM threatened to lay off 2,000 workers at a \u2062plant \u200din Fairfax, Kansas, attributing \u200bthe decision \u2063to the strike in Missouri, which terminated a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/uaw-to-resume-negotiations-with-stellantis-after-rejecting-latest-proposal\/\" title=\"UAW to Resume Talks with Stellantis After Rejecting New Offer\">union contract providing \u200dsupplemental unemployment benefits<\/a> to Kansas employees.<\/p>\n<p>Ford went a step further \u2063by laying off 600 workers at a facility in\u200c Wayne, Michigan, citing the strike\u2064 as the reason for the lack of work.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Fain affirmed that the UAW will not back down and will continue to\u2063 provide income for\u2064 workers laid off due to the strike.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, President Joe Biden called on automakers on September 15th to promptly \u200doffer union members favorable terms\u2062 for a new contract and \u2064to share a greater \u200bportion\u2064 of their record \u200bprofits \u200dfrom recent years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Auto companies have seen record \u2062profits in recent years due to the exceptional skills and sacrifices of UAW workers,&#8221; stated Mr. Fain \u200din\u2063 a press release.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;However, these record profits have \u2063not been fairly shared with the workers,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Sen. The shutdown of these plants has resulted in the loss \u2063of \u200dthousands of vehicles being produced and delays in deliveries to dealerships.
