This comes as a surprise considering that the center had about 45 employees as of July.<\/p>\n<p>While the university confirmed the layoffs, they stated that the center is transitioning \u2064to a fellowship model and that Kendi will remain as the director.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that just three years ago, Kendi \u2062received a $10 million donation from\u200b Twitter founder Jack Dorsey to support his &#8220;antiracist&#8221; work. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2023\/09\/15\/metro\/bu-center-antiracist-research-lays-off-staff-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Boston Globe<\/a>,\u2063 current and former employees have \u200ccriticized Kendi&#8217;s management and questioned how a well-funded \u2063department could be in a position to lay off staff.<\/p>\n<p>One former employee, Saida Grundy, spoke \u200cout\u2064 about the exploitative working conditions at the center.
