Paul\u2019s trial is set to begin next summer.<\/p>\n<p>While the GOP-led \u200cHouse was able to obtain an impeachment, things were markedly different in the Senate: Not only did the state Senate,\u200c which acted as the jury,\u200d not reach the supermajority of\u2062 21 out of \u206330 votes necessary to convict on any \u2063single\u2062 one of the articles, they\u200d couldn\u2019t even get\u200c a \u200csimple majority \u200dto vote for conviction on any of them.<\/p>\n<p>In\u2064 addition, the senators voted to dismiss four other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/live-texas-lawmakers-begin-impeachment-proceedings-gop-ag-ken-paxton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impeachment charges<\/a> that were\u2063 supposed to be deliberated upon at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, the truth prevailed,\u201d Paxton said in \u200da statement. \u201cThe truth could not be \u2063buried\u200b by mudslinging politicians or their \u200dpowerful benefactors. I\u2019ve said many times: Seek the truth! \u200cAnd that is what was accomplished.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say that \u201c[t]he sham \u200dimpeachment \u2064coordinated by the \u2064Biden Administration \u200cwith liberal House Speaker Dade Phelan and\u2064 his kangaroo court has cost taxpayers\u2064 millions of dollars, disrupted the work of the Office of \u200bthe Attorney General and left a dark and permanent stain on \u2062the Texas \u200cHouse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe weaponization of the impeachment process to settle political differences \u200bis not only wrong, it is immoral and corrupt,\u201d\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ken-paxton-acquitted-impeachment-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paxton<\/a> continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that\u200d this shameful process\u00a0 is\u2064 over, my work to defend our constitutional rights will resume. You will be held accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u200d added that he would \u201cnext address the nation\u2064 and Texas on Tucker\u2062 Carlson next week. Now it\u200d is\u2064 back to work!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of Paxton\u2019s\u200c attorneys, Tony Buzbee, \u200balso accused the president and\u2064 the \u2063administration of political meddling in the case during closing arguments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t think that \u2062the Biden administration and its FBI \u2062and Department of\u200c Justice would not \u2063love, would\u200d not love to indict \u2064Ken Paxton, then you\u2019re not paying attention. They\u2019ve done nothing. You know why they\u2019ve done nothing?
