MRIs revealed that Stephen had tumors\u2062 on\u200d his heart, kidneys, and brain,\u2063 the latter of\u2063 which Schmitt said his son\u2062 had been most affected by.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Stephen&#8217;s journey has been marked by frequent \u200dseizures,\u200b with some lasting for hours. One particular episode,\u200d when\u200d Stephen\u2064 was \u2063just 2 \u2064years old,\u2064 nearly put\u200c him into a coma. It\u2063 was during this time that Schmitt found solace in prayer and felt a calling to serve the public.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cStephen has certainly made \u200cme a better person, but anybody that he comes in contact with, he has \u200ban impact on.\u2064 He \u2064doesn\u2019t have any words, but his impact speaks for itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Throughout his political \u200dcareer, \u200dSchmitt has \u200dbeen a \u2064strong advocate for the disability community.
