Maxine\u2062 Waters of California on Thursday:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Many \u2062are worried that\u2063 the Judge has \u2064extended Trump\u2019s trial date. Not\u200c to worry! TRUMP CAN\u2019T RUN. TRUMP\u2063 CAN\u2019T HIDE. He will be imprisoned with Ivanka by his side!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Maxine Waters (@RepMaxineWaters) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMaxineWaters\/status\/1702478908329799704?\">September 15, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Presumably, Waters was referring to Thursday\u2019s announcement by \u2062Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee\u2062 that\u2063 Trump and 16 of his co-defendants will not be\u2063 tried in October, as Fulton County District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fani-willis-lashes-jim-jordan-claims-house-judiciary-investigation-attempt-obstruct-trump-indictment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fani\u2064 Willis<\/a> \u2063had requested. Instead, they \u200bwill proceed\u2064 on their own schedule, with a\u2062 trial date still \u200cto be announced, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/09\/14\/politics\/trump-georgia-trial-date\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Two \u200bother co-defendants, Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney \u2062Powell, who requested speedy \u2062trials, are scheduled for October.<\/p>\n<p>But Trump\u2019s daughter Ivanka has\u200c nothing\u2064 to do with these trials,\u2062 nor is she named in any of the Georgia indictments, \u2063so why even mention \u200cher, much less say that she will be imprisoned?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s evident from this statement that, for Waters, guilt or innocence has nothing to do with the indictments. If the Democrats could, they \u200dwould put the entire Trump family, every member of their staff, and possibly \u2062every person who voted for or supported him behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>New York Attorney General Letitia James tried it last year, naming Ivanka Trump in a civil fraud case that would have barred \u2063her from serving as an \u2063officer or director of a business registered\u2062 in New York \u200dstate and deferred her for\u200d criminal investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The accusation was that Ivanka misrepresented valuations on financial statements, \u2063thereby committing financial fraud, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/06\/27\/ivanka-trump-fraud-case-new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Axios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But a New York appeals court \u2063dismissed\u2063 the case because Ivanka wasn\u2019t even working \u200dfor the Trump organization at the time the alleged misrepresentations supposedly took place \u200b\u2014 which \u2063tells you all you need to \u200dknow \u200babout the \u201cdue diligence\u201d the AG did before bringing the lawsuit against the former\u2064 first daughter.<\/p>\n<p>Social media users \u2062lashed out at Waters\u2019 \u2062vengeful comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what our politics has\u200b devolved in to. Waters\u2019 statement reflects a dangerous mindset that seeks to use\u200d the legal system as a \u200cweapon to punish political adversaries.<\/p>\n<p>It is not surprising, considering \u2063that Waters has a history of inflammatory rhetoric and\u200d calls \u2062for harassing Trump supporters. In 2018, she urged her supporters to confront Trump officials in public, \u200dsaying, \u201cIf you see anybody from that \u2064Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a \u200bgasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd\u200c and you push back on them and you tell them they\u2019re not welcome anymore, anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This kind of rhetoric only serves\u2063 to further divide\u200d the nation and escalate tensions. Instead of fostering constructive dialogue and working towards solutions, Waters and her \u2063ilk resort \u200cto personal attacks and threats of imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>Waters\u2019 tweet is yet \u2062another example \u200bof the extreme partisanship \u2064that has plagued \u200bAmerican politics in\u2063 recent \u200byears. It highlights the dangerous disregard for \u2063due process and fairness in the pursuit of political vendettas.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth noting that Trump \u200bhas not been convicted of any \u200bcrimes. The investigations and charges against him are still \u2063ongoing, and he is entitled to his day in court. Jumping to conclusions and \u200dmaking sweeping statements \u2063about his guilt only undermines the principles of justice and the rule of law.<\/p>\n<p>As citizens and voters, we must demand\u2064 better from our elected officials. The path to a better future lies in\u2063 unity and\u2063 understanding, not in \u200dbitterness and\u200b vengeance.<\/p>\n<p>We deserve leaders who will strive to bring us\u2062 together, not tear us apart. It \u2063is time to \u2064reject the politics of personal destruction and \u200bembrace a \u2063more\u2062 constructive and inclusive approach.
