The judge\u200b denied the \u2062two\u200b lawyers\u2019 requests\u2062 to have trials \u2062separate from each other. McAfee said his decision \u201cis simply a procedural and logistical inevitability.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cBeginning with the logistical concerns, the\u2062 Fulton County Courthouse\u200c simply contains no\u200c courtroom\u2063 adequately\u2063 large enough to hold all 19 defendants, their \u200cmultiple attorneys and support staff, the sheriff\u2019s deputies, court personnel, and the State\u2019s prosecutorial team,\u201d he wrote in\u2063 his \u200cruling. \u201cRelocating to\u200c another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-delays-trial-for-trump-and-other-defendants-in-georgia-2020-election-prosecution\/\" title=\"Trial for Trump and other defendants in Georgia 2020 election prosecution postponed by judge.\">larger venue raises security concerns<\/a> that cannot be\u200d rapidly addressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Additionally, McAfee said he doubted the Fulton County\u2062 courthouse could \u2063handle a \u2062trial for all defendants \u2063at once. <\/p>\n<p>However, prosecutors claimed they were prepared\u200b to put all 19 defendants together on \u2064trial but McAfee scorned the idea. He also pointed out the \u200cfact that the projected length of \u200bthe trial is a\u2062 factor, which prosecutors\u2064 said could\u200d take over four\u2063 months,\u2064 with over 150 witnesses.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe must consider the ripple effects of a \u200dmonths\u200d long, multi-defendant trial on the local criminal justice system, sidelining dozens of defense counsel from \u2064handling\u2064 cases and preventing\u2062 this Court\u2062 and quite \u2063likely most colleagues from managing the\u2063 rest\u2062 of the docket,\u201d the judge said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The new ruling \u2063by the judge comes after \u200call 19 defendants were indicted by \u200ca \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/trump-files-motion-opposing-fulton-county-oct-trial-date\/\">Fulton County Grand Jury<\/a> last month on charges alleging to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the Peach State. All defendants\u2062 pleaded not guilty to the charges including Trump. <\/p>\n<p>Powell and Chesebro \u2063were vocal about their right\u200d to a speedy trial and \u2064asked the judge to separate their cases \u200bfrom the other 17 \u200bdefendants charged in the indictment.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>McAfee called it\u200c an \u201cabsolute necessity\u201d for the 17 defendants to \u2062be tried separately from the two lawyers and\u200c stated that \u201cadditional divisions of \u2063these 17 defendants may well be required.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>However, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis argued all 19 defendants \u200dshould be tried together, stating \u201cwhereas breaking this case \u2062up into multiple lengthy trials would create an enormous strain on the judicial \u200bresources of the Fulton County Superior Court.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chesebro has\u200c been charged\u2064 with seven \u200bcounts \u2062in an alleged plot to submit\u2063 a false slate of presidential electors from Georgia who would support Trump.<\/p>\n<p>As for\u200c Powell, she is accused of allegedly\u2064 pushing claims of widespread\u200d voter fraud in the 2020 election. As well as allegedly\u200d participating\u200d in \u2064a meeting at the White\u200c House in December 2020, during which \u200cWhite House lawyers confronted Powell \u200band lawyer Rudy \u2063Giuliani about their election claims.
