Over the past five elections, where you\u2019ve had a Democrat win, they needed the black vote. Ninety-one percent of African Americans voted for Biden and will continue to vote for Biden if Kamala is his running mate,\u201d Hostin declared. \u201cI would be very careful, President Biden, about getting rid of Kamala Harris because we will not support you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whoopi Goldberg was first to object, arguing that presidents did not typically make changes to the ticket between terms. \u201cWait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold up \u2026 your opinion is valid and beautiful and all of that, but when was the last time you saw anybody get rid of a vice president?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>Co-host Sarah Haines pressed Hostin on the practicality of her position, noting that if former President Donald Trump was the Republican nominee, it could change the calculus for some even if they didn\u2019t necessarily want to support Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it was Biden and Trump?\u201d Haines asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Biden \u2026 if Biden gets rid of Kamala Harris and inserts someone else, he will lose the black vote,\u201d Hostin said again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if it\u2019s another black woman like Val [Demings] \u2026\u201d co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin posited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not interchangeable,\u201d Hostin shot back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd no one is saying you are, but you wouldn\u2019t vote in an election against Donald Trump and Joe Biden, and black women wouldn\u2019t vote?\u201d Griffin asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that you, I mean \u2026\u201d co-host Joy Behar interrupted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I want to know the answer to that,\u201d Griffin continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to whitesplain, but you might be underestimating the black community of voters,\u201d Behar said.<\/p>\n<p>Hostin disagreed, but her co-hosts continued to press her on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou would really sit out an election \u2013 you said I was throwing my vote away if I wrote in another Republican,\u201d Griffin reminded her cohost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did,\u201d Hostin agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you not throwing away your vote by not supporting Biden if he drops Harris?\u201d Griffin asked, applying Hostin\u2019s own logic to her position.<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg interrupted then, saving Hostin from having to answer the question. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, y\u2019all. She is not going anywhere. Let\u2019s start with that.
