In response, mainstream media outlets promptly complied with the directive.<\/p>\n<p>Not only did the media \u2064reinforce their longstanding skepticism of GOP inquiries into Biden family\u200d corruption, but they also uncritically echoed \u2064the White \u2063House&#8217;s criticism of themselves, often explicitly agreeing \u2062with it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/white-house\/white-house-calls-media-ramp-scrutiny-biden-impeachment-inquiry-rcna104814\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> reported: &#8220;In a memo to \u2062news \u200dorganizations,\u200c the administration \u200crefuted\u200d seven Republican claims and\u2064 labeled\u2064 the impeachment inquiry as &#8216;all \u2064politics and no evidence.&#8217; &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;McCarthy does not seem to \u2064have full support from his party \u2062and has faced \u200dcriticism for the lack of evidence in GOP allegations against the president. His office did not\u2064 immediately respond to a request for comment on [White House spokesman Ian] Sams&#8217; memo.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/09\/12\/media\/white-house-letter-news-executives\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> stated: &#8220;While news organizations have published\u200b numerous fact \u200dchecks on the matter,\u200d they have also often failed to robustly \u200bchallenge the \u200cmis- \u2062and disinformation spread by Republicans in their coverage, frustrating officials in \u2064the Biden\u200c White\u200c House who believe that the news media should be doing \u2064more\u200b to dispel the lies saturating public discourse. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Republican-led investigations \u200dinto Biden have yet to\u2062 provide any \u200cdirect\u200b evidence \u200dthat the\u200b president \u2062financially benefited from [his son] Hunter Biden&#8217;s overseas \u2063career.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/09\/13\/biden-impeachment-inquiry-media-memo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios<\/a><\/em>  commented: \u2062&#8221;The White House\u200d is clearly frustrated\u2062 that media outlets are \u2063not explicitly\u200d pointing out that House investigations have not uncovered\u200b any evidence suggesting \u2062impeachable behavior on [Joe] \u200c Biden&#8217;s \u200bpart.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/playbook\/2023\/09\/14\/bidens-impeachment-tightrope-00115856\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a><\/em>  reported: &#8220;Ian Sams, the spokesman for \u200cthe White House Counsel&#8217;s Office, has \u200dappeared on cable \u200bnews \u200cand distributed a\u2063 14-page appendix with detailed rebuttals\u200c to Republicans&#8217; \u200dclaims. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The White House&#8217;s main \u200bgoal is to ensure that\u200b Republican talking points do not \u2064fester in\u200c the public\u2063 psyche. So far, despite months of \u2062investigations,\u200b Republicans have not \u2064uncovered any significant evidence of wrongdoing by the elder Biden, \u2062who frequently spoke\u200d to his son and, as vice president, attended a business dinner with his son&#8217;s associates.
