Kennedy Jr. sees foul play in the primary system set up by the Democratic National Committee (DNC), writing an open letter to the party Wednesday on how it \u201chas gone off track.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennedy24.com\/dncletter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">letter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Kennedy accused the DNC of breaking party rules by working hand-in-hand with President Joe Biden\u2019s re-election campaign. The presidential candidate, who is challenging Biden for the 2024 nomination, asked Chairman Jamie Harrison and members of the DNC to \u201clead by example\u201d and hold a fair and \u201caccessible\u201d primary election.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cUnfortunately, in recent years our party leaders have succumbed to the siren of control,\u201d Kennedy wrote. \u201cThey have compromised the defining democratic principle of one person, one vote through repeated interference in the primary elections. They have hijacked the party machinery and, in recent years, directed the power of censorship onto their political opponents, raising political victory onto the altar in place of honest democracy.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kennedy then slammed the DNC for setting up a primary election schedule that favors Biden by holding the first primary in South Carolina, where Biden performed well in 2020, and \u201ccasting out New Hampshire\u2019s votes,\u201d where the first Democratic primary is traditionally held and where Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/02\/11\/us\/elections\/results-new-hampshire-primary-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">finished in fifth place<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the 2020 presidential primary.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Democrat also said his party is \u201climiting ballot access in Iowa\u201d and creating a new system of superdelegates after the party <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/storyline\/democrats-vs-trump\/democrats-strip-super-delegates-power-reform-caucuses-historic-move-n903866\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">voted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2018 to strip power from superdelegates by preventing them from voting on the first round of ballots at the party convention. The new reforms to the Democratic Party\u2019s nominating process were pushed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and former DNC Chairman Tom Perez after Sanders lost the nomination to Hillary Clinton in 2016, largely due to superdelegates backing Clinton.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kennedy added that the DNC is reverting to superdelegate control of the primary\u2019s outcome, writing that the DNC is \u201cdeploying party operatives to water down the popular vote and ensure a controlled victory.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kennedy\u2019s campaign manager, Dennis Kucinich, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/rfk-jr-campaign-accuses-dnc-being-undemocratic-demands-assurances-every-dems-vote-counts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last week that \u201cit appears that the DNC has created a class of pledged delegates, called Party Leaders and Elected Officials (PLEOs), who are essentially the same as superdelegates, due to the amount of control the party exercises over elected officials.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis puts the DNC, once again, in the position of overturning the will of voters across the United States. It is unclear how overturning the nation\u2019s majority vote could be interpreted as trusting the people,\u201d added Kucinich, a former Democratic Representative from Ohio who ran for president in 2004 and 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1694704868144000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1Z3tOpaerrCj2tN0KpdRyx\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the letter to the DNC, Kennedy also criticized the party for its refusal to hold any debates, even as Kennedy polled above 10% nationally and another Democratic candidate, Marianne Williamson, polled above 5%, according to the Real Clear Politics <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/2024\/president\/us\/24_democratic_presidential_nomination-8171.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">average<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEqually disheartening is the DNC\u2019s refusal to hold debates,\u201d Kennedy wrote, adding that the DNC\u2019s defense of pointing to \u201cprecedent\u201d is \u201cspurious\u201d since \u201cthere has been no serious primary challenge to an incumbent in more than 40 years\u201d other than then-sitting-Vice President Al Gore debating primary challengers in 2000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cVoters deserve \u2014 and democracy requires \u2014 a competitive process by which to determine nominees. It should be a party\u2019s voters who choose a candidate, not party insiders who anoint one,\u201d Kennedy added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Section 4 of the DNC\u2019s charter dictates that the chairman of the party \u201cshall exercise impartiality and evenhandedness as between the Presidential candidates and campaigns,\u201d something the Kennedy campaign <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/rfk-jr-campaign-accuses-dnc-being-undemocratic-demands-assurances-every-dems-vote-counts\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">says<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the DNC is going against by \u201cclosely consulting\u201d with Biden\u2019s campaign manager Julie Ch\u00e1vez-Rodr\u00edguez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe DNC and the Joe Biden campaign have essentially merged into one unit, financially and strategically, despite the promise of neutrality in its charter and bylaws,\u201d Kennedy said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When asked by The Daily Wire if Kennedy would consider running as an independent if the DNC didn\u2019t make some changes following the letter, Kucinich said, \u201cThe next move is up to the DNC.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEven though it is well known that the DNC IS the Biden campaign, and the Biden campaign IS the DNC, Mr. Kennedy made an open, conciliatory appeal, in the spirit of healing the divide, and rescuing the party from a colossal blunder,\u201d he said. \u201cThe next move is up to the DNC\/Biden campaign.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic presidential candidate Robert F.
