Shapley had previously testified before Congress\u200d that he \u2062was \u200cprevented from conducting a thorough\u2064 investigation into\u2062 Biden&#8217;s alleged tax crimes.<\/p>\n<p>David Weiss, the Delaware U.S. attorney leading the investigation into Biden, was present at the meeting. Shapley&#8217;s notes appear to confirm his \u2064claims\u200c that \u200bWeiss stated he was not the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-doesnt-even-correct-himself-after-astonishing-error-while-speaking-old-age-is-showing\/\" title=\"Biden's Astonishing Error Reveals His Age\">final decision-maker<\/a> when \u200dit came to bringing charges against\u200c the president&#8217;s son.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Weiss \u200cstated &#8211; He is not the deciding person,&#8221; Shapley \u200bwrote in his notes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This new development adds to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-delivers-remarks-on-boosters-border-reconciliation\/\" title=\"Biden delivers remarks on boosters, border, reconciliation\">ongoing controversy surrounding<\/a> whether political influence played a role in the investigation \u200bof Hunter Biden, \u200bwho is accused \u2062of committing tax \u200cfraud and other crimes such as \u200cexpensing \u2062payments \u200dto prostitutes and \u2063a sex\u200d club.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, House\u200d Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/republicans-subpoena-4-officials-who-witnessed-alleged-politicization-of-hunter-biden-probe\/\">subpoenaed<\/a> two IRS agents and two FBI special agents who were either present at the meeting or\u2062 briefed on its details. One of the FBI officials, special agent in\u2063 charge Thomas\u200d Sobocinski, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/4202686-fbi-official-refutes-top-gop-claims-on-hunter-biden-investigation\/\">contradicted<\/a> Shapley&#8217;s testimony by stating that Weiss did have authority\u2062 in the\u2062 investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The other \u200bofficials \u200bwho were subpoenaed are IRS director of field operations \u200dMichael Batdorf, IRS\u2064 special agent in charge \u200bDarrell Waldon,\u200c and FBI assistant \u200dspecial agent \u2062in charge Ryeshia Holley. According to Shapley, all of them \u200cattended the meeting except for Batdorf, to \u200bwhom\u2064 Shapley \u200dsent an\u200c email \u2064detailing the\u2062 meeting&#8217;s contents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our \u200bCommittees, along with the\u2064 Committee\u2063 on Oversight and Accountability, have\u200c sought these interviews since IRS whistleblowers came forward \u200bwith \u200bconcerning allegations of political interference in the investigation into Hunter Biden\u2019s foreign\u200b influence peddling and tax evasion,&#8221; \u200bthe Republicans said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/judiciary-ways-and-means-committees-issue-subpoenas-compelling-witness\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Newly released notes by the IRS whistleblower, Gary Shapley, seem to back his claims of the agency&#8217;s sluggishness in investigating Hunter Biden.
