Many <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> recipients\u200d speak English and have \u200bjobs, homes, and families in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Hanen wrote that the order \u2063did not require U.S. immigration \u2064authorities &#8220;to take any immigration, deportation, or criminal action against any <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> \u2062recipient,\u200c applicant, \u200bor any other individual \u2064that would otherwise not be taken.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The \u2064ruling, which came in response \u2062to\u2064 a lawsuit brought by Texas and other states, is expected to be appealed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we have long maintained, we disagree with \u200cthe District Court&#8217;s \u2064conclusion that\u2062 <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> is unlawful, and will continue to defend \u2062this critical \u2064policy\u200d from legal challenges,&#8221; White House spokeswoman Karine \u2064Jean-Pierre said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-implies-biden-will-not-commemorate-afghanistan-withdrawal\/\" title=\"White House suggests Biden won't mark Afghanistan exit.\">written statement released<\/a> on Wednesday night. &#8220;While we do so, consistent with the court&#8217;s order, DHS will continue to\u2062 process renewals for current <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> \u200c recipients and DHS \u2063may continue to accept\u2064 <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> applications.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The \u200cruling preserves the stay, which \u200dmeans current <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> recipients will \u2064not lose their protection from removal,&#8221; Alejandro\u200d Mayorkas, secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland \u200dSecurity, said in a separate statement. &#8220;But\u200d this ruling does undermine the security and stability of more than half \u200ba \u2063million Dreamers who have contributed to our communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c office of Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott did\u200c not \u2063immediately respond to a request\u200c for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Saenz, president of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), which represents <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> recipients siding with the\u2062 Biden administration in the litigation, called \u200bHanen&#8217;s ruling &#8220;more of the same\u200c flawed analysis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Biden, a Democrat who is seeking re-election in 2024, has made it a priority \u2064to defend <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span>, which was created in 2012 under former President Barack\u2063 Obama when \u200cBiden \u2064was vice president.\u200d Texas \u200band eight other states\u2063 with Republican attorneys \u200dgeneral argued\u2062 that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-rules-obamas-daca-program-illegal\/\" title=\"Judge deems Obama's DACA program unlawful.\">program violates federal regulatory law<\/a> and saddles them with education, healthcare, and law enforcement costs.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2022, \u2063the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-dems-propose-adding-51-judges-to-federal-appeals-courts\/\" title=\"House Dems Propose Adding 51 Judges to Federal Appeals Courts\">conservative-leaning 5th<\/a> U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed\u2062 Hanen&#8217;s\u200d ruling against <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span>, but sent\u2063 the case\u200d back to him for reconsideration\u2063 in light of Biden&#8217;s \u200bregulation formalizing the program.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald\u2063 Trump, a \u2064Republican seeking \u2063re-election in 2024, sought \u2062to end <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> but \u200dwas rebuffed by the U.S. Supreme Court, which found Trump&#8217;s attempt at\u200b termination did\u2062 not comply with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/svb-collapse-director-of-failed-bank-was-author-of-dodd-frank-reform-law\/\" title=\"SVB collapse: Director of failed bank was author of Dodd-Frank reform law\">regulatory laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some 81 percent of <span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">DACA<\/span> enrollees are from Mexico, followed by El \u2064Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, according\u2063 to U.S.\u200d Citizenship and Immigration \u2062Services data.
