Mitt Romney (R-UT) announced Wednesday that he will retire at the end of his term, questions remain\u200b about three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/and-then-there-were-three-the-last-senators-undecided-about-reelection-in-2024\/\" title=\"Three senators remain undecided about seeking reelection in 2024.\">undecided incumbent senators<\/a> up for reelection next \u200byear who have \u2062not made their plans \u2063clear.<\/p>\n<h3>Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Kyrsten Sinema \u2063(I-AZ)<\/h3>\n<p>Sens. Bernie\u2063 Sanders (I-VT), Joe Manchin \u200d(D-WV), and Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) have remained\u2064 evasive about whether they will run \u2062again. While\u2063 Sanders hails from deep blue Vermont, all eyes \u200care on Manchin and\u2063 Sinema,\u200b whose decisions \u200ccould determine\u2063 whether Republicans retake the chamber. Senate Democrats are defending a\u2062 small two<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-outraise-democrats-across-the-board-in-january\/\" title=\"Republicans Outraise Democrats Across the Board in January\">-seat majority<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)<\/h3>\n<p>Sanders, an \u2064independent \u2062who caucuses with the Democrats, still has not indicated whether\u200c he intends to run for a fourth \u200dterm.<\/p>\n<p>The 82-year-old doesn\u2019t \u2063appear\u200b to be slowing down anytime soon. Sanders \u200bis the chairman of \u2064the \u2064Committee \u2062on Health, Education, Labor, \u2063and Pensions, giving him broad jurisdiction over \u200dconcerns\u200b at the center \u2063of his previous campaigns, such as workers&#8217; \u200brights, the cost of \u200bprescription drugs, and \u2063access to healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>However, a\u200c debate about the age of political leaders has been\u200d building for months.\u200b It\u2062 came to the forefront again a couple of weeks ago when Senate Minority\u2063 Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) appeared \u2063to freeze\u2062 for 30 seconds while\u2063 answering questions from reporters, the second such incident this \u2064summer. \u200bIf Sanders runs again, he will be 89 at the end of his fourth term.<\/p>\n<p>For now, Sanders and his staff continue to fend off the reelection questions.\u200b The\u2063 Vermont senator\u2062 has indicated to reporters who \u2062ask him that he thinks it \u200dis a distraction.<\/p>\n<h3>Sen. Joe Manchin \u2063(D-WV)<\/h3>\n<p>The West Virginia Democrat has \u2063still not announced whether he will be running for \u200dreelection in 2024 in a ruby red state President Joe Biden lost\u2062 by 40\u2064 points\u2063 last \u200ccycle. Manchin has \u200dopenly flirted with a third-party\u2062 run for president in 2024. Weeks ago,\u2062 he said he was\u200b considering changing his party\u200c affiliation\u2063 from\u200b Democrat to independent.<\/p>\n<p>Behind closed \u200ddoors, \u2063Senate Majority Leader \u2063Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has\u2064 encouraged him to\u200d run. Most Democrats recognize Manchin is \u200bperhaps the only Democrat who can win a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/education-dept-proposes-nonbinary-category-for-civil-rights-survey\/\" title=\"Education Dept Proposes \u2018Nonbinary\u2019 Category for Civil Rights Survey\">statewide contest<\/a> in West Virginia, \u200ba \u200dkey to preserving \u200bthe \u2064party\u2019s control \u200bof the Senate. Manchin recently told the New York Times\u2062 he would make a decision\u200c about his political \u200bfuture by the end\u2064 of the \u2063year. If \u200dhe intends to run again, \u2063he\u200b must inform the\u2064 state \u200dby January.<\/p>\n<p>The National Republican Senatorial Committee is eyeing Manchin\u2019s seat as a top pickup \u200bopportunity next year \u2064to flip the Senate from Democratic to GOP control, \u200dattempting to frame his position as \u201cattempts to rewrite history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Should Manchin decide to run, he could\u200b face popular\u2062 Gov. Jim\u2063 Justice (R-WV) or Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV),\u2063 who are currently competing in a Republican primary. A poll last week for \u2063the West Virginia Chamber \u200dof Commerce showed Justice beating Manchin handily, winning in a \u200dhypothetical Senate \u200dcontest 51% to 38%. \u2062The poll also found that \u2064Manchin would narrowly lead Mooney\u2063 45% \u200cto\u2063 41%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still don\u2019t think he knows what he is going \u200cto do,\u201d \u200bsaid a former aide of\u200b the senator, speaking \u200don the condition of anonymity. \u201cI think he\u2019ll \u200bdo exactly what\u2064 he did last time: \u2064wait until \u200cDecember or January to make up his mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manchin has raised $1.3 million\u200d during the second quarter and has more than\u2064 $10 million in the \u200bbank. That\u2019s more \u200bthan Justice, who raised $935,035 from 5,526 individual donors, \u2064and Mooney, who raised\u200c $411,192.76 in the\u200c second quarter.<\/p>\n<h3>Sen. Kyrsten Sinema \u200b(I-AZ)<\/h3>\n<p>Sinema has not yet said\u2062 if\u2064 she \u2064is running for \u200da second term \u2064after leaving the Democratic \u200bParty late last year\u2062 and becoming an independent.\u2062 She was\u2064 the first Democrat to win an Arizona seat in 30 years in 2018.\u2064 She \u200chas spent\u200c most of the\u200d Biden presidency at odds with progressives on filibuster reform, \u2064corporate\u2062 taxes,\u2062 and\u200c other\u2063 issues.<\/p>\n<p>If she were to run, she\u2062 could face a potential three-way race with \u2062Rep. Ruben \u200bGallego (D-AZ), the progressive likely Democratic nominee who announced his run in January, and \u2062Kari Lake,\u200b a polarizing conservative who lost her\u200d election for\u2064 governor last year. \u200bThe state is 34% Republican, 34% independent, and\u200c 30% Democratic,\u200d according to Arizona data.<\/p>\n<p>Lake has not yet launched her bid. \u2064If she runs, she will likely face off against \u200cBlake Masters, who recently indicated he\u2019s preparing to run\u200c for\u200c the seat held by Sinema. The only Republican\u2062 in\u200b the \u2062race so far,\u2062 Pinal \u2064County Sheriff Mark Lamb, announced his candidacy\u2062 in April but is considered an underdog who has \u200cyet to\u200d raise significant money.<\/p>\n<p>Sinema has nearly\u200b $10.8 million\u2063 in her bank account, almost \u200dthree times more than Gallego. However, Gallego brought in $3.1 million\u200d from April 1 through June 30. Lamb reported\u200c raising $608,000 in the second \u200bquarter.<\/p>\n<p>McConnell \u2063in \u200dMay indicated Republicans are\u200b still assessing the Arizona Senate race\u200b and voiced \u2063some hesitation about whether the GOP wants to invest resources.
