But\u200b recent advancements are now resulting in a similar \u200blevel of concern expressed among both groups.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    \u2064   &#8220;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>whereas non-college-educated \u2064workers were \u200bpreviously \u200dmuch\u200b more concerned about technological replacement than college-educated\u200c workers, these \u200cgroups now express \u2062similar levels of\u2063 concern,&#8221;\u200d Gallup said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Younger and Less Well Off\u2064 Worry About Jobs<\/h2>\n<p>    \u2062 \u200b The gap\u200b between younger and older workers, as well as between\u200b those making less and more than $100,000 a year, continue to widen regarding concerns\u2064 over career obsolescence.<br \/>\n\u2063\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<p>FOBO increased \u200conly 2 percentage points among workers over 55\u200b years \u2063of age but soared 11 points for\u200b those between 18 and 34.<\/p>\n<p>Workers making \u2064less than $100,000 recorded\u200c a 10\u2064 point jump in FOBO, while \u2063those making over $100,000 saw a 5 point rise.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns have risen \u2063equally\u2064 among men and\u200d women, with both genders expressing a similar\u200b rise \u2064in fear between age groups.<\/p>\n<p>Although the number of workers concerned over artificial \u2062intelligence (AI) and other technological advancements replacing\u200b their jobs rose 22 percent, a reduction in benefits remains the most common\u200d concern for employees.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-figure\">\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Dirk \u2064Kaftan, general \u200cmusic director of the Beethoven Orchester Bonn perform on \u200bstage during the rehearsal\u2063 for the world premiere of Beethoven&#8217;s 10th symphony, completed by artificial intelligence in Bonn, Germany on Oct. \u20629,\u200c 2021. (Andreas Rentz\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Out of the six\u2063 major\u00a0concerns in the survey,\u2062 only\u2062 the fear \u200cthat technology could threaten jobs has increased significantly since 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The other five job fears \u200cremain\u2064 well below \u200ctheir highs from after the \u200bGreat Recession, between mid-2009 to mid-2013.<\/p>\n<p>Still, FOBO remains well below loss of benefits and wage reduction as the\u200b top concern facing American workers. Those are major issues for\u00a0roughly \u2064one in five workers, Gallup said.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly a third \u200bor 31\u2062 percent of respondents said they were worried about losing\u2062 their job benefits in the near \u2063future,\u200d followed by wage reductions\u2063 at 24\u200d percent.<\/p>\n<p>Fears \u200cof being laid\u2063 off stood \u200dat\u2063 20 percent and \u200dhaving \u200dhours cut\u2063 back was a problem for 19 percent of workers\u2014the lowest levels since the mid-2000s.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    Offshoring was the least worrisome concern at 7 \u2063percent, the lowest in Gallup&#8217;s trend \u2064by one point.<\/p>\n<h2>Rise of AI Concerning College-Educated Americans<\/h2>\n<p>    The results of the poll come as writers and actors complain \u200babout Hollywood\u200d studios&#8217; use of artificial intelligence amid \u200dstrikes and calls for regulations around\u200d the use \u200cof the technology.\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    \u2062 As one of their key demands, the Writers Guild of America <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wgacontract2023.org\/the-campaign\/pattern-of-demands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has called<\/a> for studios to\u00a0&#8220;regulate \u200duse of material \u200bproduced using\u2062 artificial \u200bintelligence or similar \u2062technologies&#8221; in television and movie\u2063 productions.\n  <\/div>\n<p>After the release of ChatGPT last November showed the\u00a0ability of AI to mimic\u200b human language, many workers are increasingly concerned about what\u200c computers can\u2063 do in\u2062 the workplace.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-figure\">\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Aidan Meller looks at a painting by Ai-Da Robot, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/number-of-workers-fearing-technological-replacement-surges-to-highest-level-on-record\/\" title=\"Record number of workers fear being replaced by technology.\">ultra-realistic humanoid robot artist<\/a>, during a press call at The British Library in London, England on April 4, 2022 .
