Additionally, over the past\u200b three\u200d years, \u200dthe\u2063 club\u200c has successfully transferred six players to high-level European teams.<\/p>\n<p>However, it hasn&#8217;t always been smooth sailing for OCSC. Last season, \u200bthey finished in last place in the\u200c West with a 7\u201314\u201313 record, and \u200cthis year started slowly, leading to the removal of championship-winning Coach Richard\u200c Chaplow and the hiring of Interim\u200b Coach\u2064 Morten Karlsen in June.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou don\u2019t get it right\u2062 all the time,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> \u2064 Mr. Wyss \u200bsaid. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhat is very important is you \u200dcannot deviate from the plan you\u2019ve \u2062laid out simply based on some results \u2062that maybe don\u2019t go your way, where you feel you have to abandon \u200beverything to win at all costs. We\u200b instilled it in the DNA of our club \u2026 Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/country-celebrates-natl-law-enforcement-appreciation-day\/\" title=\"Country celebrates Nat\u2019l Law Enforcement Appreciation Day\">head coach<\/a> has to believe that when a \u200byoung player is ready,\u200d he plays, and really \u2062create the environment where a young player\u200c can succeed.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Individual Success Stories<\/h3>\n<p>One of the latest success stories for OCSC is former \u200cUCLA forward Milan Iloski, who holds\u200b the team\u2019s all-time record\u200d with 38 goals. After this season, Iloski\u200c will be transferred\u200d to FC Nordsjaelland of the Danish Superliga.<\/p>\n<p>Iloski follows in the footsteps of former OCSC players Korede \u200bOsundina \u200cand Kobi\u2064 Henry, who \u200bhave also made \u200csuccessful transfers to top-tier\u200b clubs in Europe.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cLet\u2019s face it, the way to make money all around the world in soccer \u200cis through player transfers,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> Mr. Wyss explained. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn the United States, professional\u2063 sports\u2062 are more based on \u2064franchise value and sponsorships and \u200cticket revenues. \u2064That\u2019s an important piece \u200cfor us, as well, but we feel strongly that through the USL, we can take advantage of the\u200d player-transfer market that is obviously worth billions and billions every single year around the world.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Investing in Youth Development<\/h3>\n<p>Part\u2064 of OCSC\u2019s development program\u2062 is an \u201cacademy\u201d \u200cteam that allows \u200byounger \u2062players to train with the USL entry while gaining playing\u2062 experience in lower-level\u2062 games.<\/p>\n<p>Already this season, several young players have had the opportunity\u2063 to \u2062showcase \u2063their skills. \u2062Eighteen-year-old \u200cgoalkeeper Juan Santana of Corona has appeared in two\u200c games for OCSC, recording shutouts in both.\u2064 Sixteen-year-old midfielder Ben Norris from\u2063 Poway \u200cand 16-year-old forward Nico Ruiz from Huntington Beach High School\u200c have\u2063 also made\u200d appearances, along with \u200b17-year-old winger Bryce Jamison and\u2062 18-year-old center backs Ashton Miles of Fullerton \u2063and Joey Buckley.<\/p>\n<p>Orange County\u2019s soccer fan base has responded well, with sellout crowds showing their support for the club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Casual fans at OCSC&#8217;s Sept. 15 match might miss the bigger picture.
