Mike Rounds \u2062(R-S.D.) has been \u201cone of the leaders\u201d spearheading this trip. The senator last year \u200bhelped to direct \u2062tens\u2063 of billions of \u2062dollars to bolster the \u2063U.S. semiconductor industry through\u200b the Chip and Science Act. In May, he directed\u2064 Democrats to unveil a legislative plan dubbed as China Competition Bill 2.0 to further strengthen U.S. manufacturing and\u200c limit flow of\u2063 technology to China.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-figure\" style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Senate Majority\u2063 Leader Sen. (Alex Wong\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mr. Schumer began the AI Insight\u200d Forum on Wednesday by \u200bwarning about the danger of China gaining a technological edge.<\/p>\n<p>Rep.\u200b Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.), who chairs the Select \u200cCommittee on the\u2062 Strategic Competition \u2064Between the United States and the \u200dChinese Communist Party, said he was skeptical that the delegation \u200cis \u201cgoing to\u200d be able to do a robust trip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt just depends on their \u200citinerary,\u2062 which I haven\u2019t seen \u200byet,\u201d he told reporters on Sept. 13.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA \u200blot of people would \u2064ask\u2064 us if we&#8217;re going to go to China, and I said, \u200c\u2018I have no interest in sitting in a \u2063room getting lectured by CCP officials,\u2019\u201d he told The\u2064 Epoch Times, adding that he has reservations\u200c about how much control lawmakers \u2064have over their travel schedule in the socialist country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;d \u200cbe curious to see what they actually plan\u2063 to do,\u201d he said. If they go, he\u2063 said, the delegation should bring \u2062a message that \u201cthe United States Congress,\u2062 in bipartisan \u200cfashion, strongly \u200dcondemns \u2064the\u2062 ongoing genocide in Xinjiang,\u201d the \u200cincreasing aggression\u200d directed at Taiwan, and \u2064the \u201ceconomic coercion that we&#8217;re seeing \u200bagainst our allies, including\u2063 what the\u2063 CCP is\u2062 trying to do to Japan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When then-House Speaker Rep.
