But now,\u200d more than \u206310 years\u2062 after the first efforts to\u2063 do just\u200b that, we are seeing that \u200cthe critics were right. Liberal pot laws\u200c and increased \u200cusage are \u200bfar from\u2062 the panacea pot-lovers claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Starting back in\u2063 2012, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-pioneering-legal-pot-states-aim-to-ease-rules-on-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colorado<\/a> passed a law to allow private use of marijuana. Soon the \u2062state of Washington \u200djoined the Centennial State in loosening its pot laws. And many more came in the following years, especially\u200c when the states began to realize it could tax \u201clegal\u201d marijuana and bring millions into their state treasuries.<\/p>\n<p>Now even the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pot-not-cbd-craze-leaving-police-confused\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federal government<\/a> is looking to loosen the reins and is preparing to take \u2062pot off its Schedule One prohibitions, a\u200d move said to be the\u200d first step in decriminalizing marijuana.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The Dark Side of Marijuana<\/h3>\n<p>But\u2062 now \u2063these states are finding that it is time to pay the piper, as a raft of ill-effects are spreading like wildfire all \u200cacross the country. From mental illness to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rfk-jr-talks-14-year-battle-addiction-overcame-faith-god\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">addiction<\/a> and impaired driving, the\u200c effects on\u200b many are not as beneficial as advocates claimed.<\/p>\n<p>There do seem \u2062to be\u2064 a very few beneficial uses for pot for a small number of people. It does help in pain \u200drelief for the\u200d chronically afflicted, it \u200ccan\u200c help\u200b with nausea from \u2063chemotherapies and it is \u200bsometimes\u2063 effective for those\u200c with anxiety. But all those \u200bbenefits are limited and \u2063are far outweighed by\u200b the deleterious effects seen when widespread use is \u200bfactored in, according to a \u2062raft of new studies reported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-12471303\/Health-effects-weed-Marijuana-schizophrenia-smokers-addicted-death-pregnant-biden-restrictions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Mail.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With a pool of more than 40 million pot users to look at, researchers are finding that recreational\u200d use of the drug is becoming an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pot-use-age-groups-us-one-alarming-demographic-trying-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increasing problem<\/a> \u200b everywhere\u2062 it \u200cis being tried.<\/p>\n<p>As the Mail noted, researchers from \u2062the Aarhus University Hospital\u2062 in\u2062 Denmark have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-12119635\/Chronic-cannabis-use-raises-risk-major-depression-bipolar-disorder-FOUR-TIMES.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a> that despite claims by pot advocates, the drug is just\u2064 as addictive as any other drug. And 41\u2062 percent of users have developed major problems with\u2063 depression.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/research-shows-alarming-numbers-of-americans-are-lonely\/\" title=\"Research Shows \u2018Alarming Numbers Of Americans Are Lonely\u2019\">research found<\/a> that chronic marijuana\u2063 use quadrupled risk of developing a bipolar disorder and added to a rise in psychotic breaks, including thoughts of, and deaths by, suicide, with \u200dpot linked to \u200d30 percent\u2064 of cases of schizophrenia.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2062researchers added\u200b that people who already have a propensity \u200bfor these mental disorders often find \u2062that pot \u2062makes them worse,\u2063 not \u2063better.<\/p>\n<p>That is nothing like the benign effects pot advocates claimed we\u2019d be\u2062 seeing.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Pot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/californias-pot-industry-entering-bust-cycle-taking-entire-towns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advocates<\/a> also claimed\u2063 that one can\u2019t really become addicted to \u2063the drug. This has also been revealed as false.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamanetworkopen\/fullarticle\/2808874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">research<\/a> from University of Washington and Kaiser\u200c Permanente \u2063Washington Health Research Institute\u2063 estimates 21 percent\u2062 of marijuana users had become addicted,\u201d \u200dthe Mail reported, adding that \u2063at least <a href=\"https:\/\/nida.nih.gov\/publications\/research-reports\/marijuana\/marijuana-addictive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">four million Americans<\/a> have developed \u201cmarijuana use \u200bdisorder\u201d since pot became so \u2062much \u200deasier to get.<\/p>\n<p>Another claim that many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/op-ed-unintended-consequences-legalizing-marijuana-new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advocates<\/a> \u2064have made is that pot will calm you and\u200c make sleep come\u2063 easier. This is also not true, studies have found.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA 2021 study in the journal BMJ reported adults who used\u200c cannabis 20 or more \u200ctimes in the previous month were more likely than non-users to get six or fewer hours of\u2063 sleep per night,\u201d the Mail reported. In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2016\/10\/161017155004.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">39 percent<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/brutal-marijuana-studies-now-emerging-it-should-never-have-been-fully-legalized\/\" title=\"New Disturbing Marijuana Studies - Full Legalization Mistake\">daily pot users developed clinical\u200b insomnia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An even more alarming study says that pregnant women will put \u200dthemselves at a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-11463033\/One-50-women-admit-using-cannabis-pregnant-raising-risk-premature-births-defects.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 70 percent<\/a> higher \u200crisk of birth defects if they regularly use \u200cpot during\u2062 pregnancy, and they will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nichd.nih.gov\/newsroom\/releases\/121113-stillbirth-drug-use\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2.3 times<\/a> more susceptible to a stillbirth.<\/p>\n<p>Also, \u201cA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nih.gov\/news-events\/news-releases\/prenatal-cannabis-exposure-associated-mental-disorders-children-persist-into-early-adolescence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022\u200b study<\/a> published in JAMA Pediatrics \u2062found prenatal cannabis exposure after \u200dfive to six weeks of pregnancy is associated with attention,\u2064 social and behavioral problems that\u200c persist into early adolescence,\u201d the Mail reported.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the evidence seems irrefutable that heavy pot smoking is just as bad on your body as \u200bheavy tobacco smoking.
