Mr. Fain emphasized\u200c during\u200b his interview with the business\u2062 news network. &#8220;We have a lot of work to do in 48 \u200bhours.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the substantial pay increase, the UAW \u2063is \u2062also demanding a four-year contract that includes\u200c a 32-hour workweek with 40 hours of pay \u2063and the restoration of\u200b traditional pensions.<\/p>\n<p>Many officials and market observers \u200dare urging all parties involved to reach an\u2063 agreement promptly. Senator \u200cGary Peters (D-Mich.) expressed his\u2062 hope\u2063 that the UAW and \u2062the Big\u200c Three \u200dwill continue negotiating to ensure\u2063 that workers\u2063 receive a contract that provides them with the wages, benefits, and job security they\u2062 deserve.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve met with and have been in constant communication with UAW\u2064 members,\u200b including\u2064 UAW President Shawn Fain,\u200c and representatives from the Big Three auto manufacturers, and I&#8217;m hopeful \u200bthat both parties will continue to negotiate in good faith \u200dtowards\u200b a fair \u2064contract,&#8221; Senator Peters stated.<\/p>\n<p>Dan \u200bIves, an analyst\u200b at Wedbush \u200cSecurities, believes that a strike is now highly likely \u2062as the\u2062 two sides seem to be far apart in their positions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a potential nightmare situation \u2063for \u200cGM\u200c and Ford as both industry giants \u2062are in the early stages of a massive EV transformation,&#8221; \u2064Mr. \u2062Ives wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Sept. 11.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    Sources told the Associated \u200dPress that UAW union leaders are considering launching targeted\u2062 strikes at a select \u200dnumber of factories \u200boperated by the three companies, which would disrupt production at various parts plants and assembly factories.<\/p>\n<h2>Big\u2063 Three Offers<\/h2>\n<p>    \u2062   Ford announced on Sept. 7 that nearly \u20628,000 UAW-represented employees would receive an average pay increase of\u2062 $4.33 per hour, amounting to approximately $9,000 per year.\u2063 With overtime, the annual pay raise could exceed $10,000.\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<p>The \u200bautomotive manufacturing giant\u2064 referred to this\u2064 deal as &#8220;23 Jump Street.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese pay raises are an example of Ford\u2019s \u200dcommitment\u200d to improving \u2063the lives\u2064 of our hourly workforce,\u201d said\u2062 Bryce Currie, Ford&#8217;s vice president of \u200bmanufacturing, \u2063in a statement. \u201cThe negotiating teams nicknamed \u200bthis deal \u201823 Jump\u2064 Street\u2019 because in 2023, \u2062a significant number of UAW-Ford \u2064team\u2062 members would see a\u200c jump \u200din pay. And\u200d we are\u200d offering further improvements in the next contract.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr. Fain acknowledged\u200d in a Facebook \u2064Live session that the UAW is demanding full-time employment for \u2063temporary workers after 90 days, comprehensive healthcare and retirement benefits, and profit sharing.<\/p>\n<p>GM revised its proposal in \u2063the labor negotiations,\u200c which \u200d&#8221;includes well-deserved\u2062 wage improvements that far exceed the 2019 agreement \u2062and reward you \u200dfor your hard work,&#8221; according to GM President Mark Reuss.<\/p>\n<p>The offer \u2062also \u200dincludes two additional 3 percent lump-sum payments, a one-time $6,000 inflation-recognition payment, $5,000 inflation-protection \u200dbonuses over the duration of the agreement, a $5,500 ratification bonus, and the \u200drecognition \u2062of Juneteenth as \u200da paid\u200c holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Fain\u200c described this offer as &#8220;insulting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After refusing \u2064to \u2062bargain in good faith for\u200d the past six weeks, only after having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/united-auto-workers-could-strike-friday-as-contract-expires-soon\/\" title=\"UAW potential strike looms as contract nears end.\">federal labor\u2064 board\u2063 charges \u2063filed<\/a> \u2063against them, GM has come to \u2062the table with an insulting proposal that doesn\u2019t come close to an equitable agreement for\u2063 America\u2019s \u200dautoworkers,&#8221; he stated. &#8220;GM either doesn\u2019t care \u2064or isn\u2019t listening when we say we need economic \u2064justice at GM by 11:59 \u200bp.m. on \u200bSeptember 14th. Tick tock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chrysler-maker Stellantis proposed a \u206414.5 percent general wage increase over four years, with new workers receiving a \u206427 percent boost to \u200ctheir starting wages.
