During an August\u2064 interview on ABC News\u2019s \u201cThis Week,\u201d he discussed comments he made at a White House press conference following the Uvalde school shooting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWell, one of the things \u2014 it was just one word,\u201d he said. \u201cI went in there and flipped, seemed to get those hard second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/matthew-mcconaughey-fires-back-at-joy-behar-calling-him-anti-gun-a-game-im-not-interested-in-playing\/\" title=\"Matthew McConaughey rejects Joy Behar's \"anti-gun\" label, refuses to engage in the game.\">amendment defenders\u2019 ears<\/a> to at\u2062 least listen\u2062 and that was\u2062 \u2014 I changed the word from \u2018control\u2019 to \u2018responsibility.\u2019\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cControl sounds like\u2062 a mandate and nobody wants a mandate,\u201d he continued. \u201cNo one wants to be \u2062controlled. But responsibility is still something that we can all go, yeah,\u2064 \u2018I\u2019ll take responsibility,\u2019 and a lot of the far-right or the Republicans, they almost feel like responsibility\u2063 is \u2064a value that they have \u200bownership of and it\u2019s a\u2064 sense \u200dof almost pride \u2062and honor to be \u200dresponsible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During a 2018 March For Our\u2062 Lives rally, the \u201cInterstellar\u201d actor said gun owners should \u201ctake one for\u200b the\u200c team\u201d and voluntarily give up some of their gun rights. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOne, let\u2019s ban \u200bthe \u200bassault weapons for civilians.
