said it spotted 28 Chinese Air Force planes\u200b in its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chinas-military-jets-repeatedly-fly-into-taiwans-air-defense-zone-since-bidens-afghanistan-withdrawal-report\/\" title=\"China\u2019s Military Jets Repeatedly Fly Into Taiwan\u2019s Air Defense Zone Since Biden\u2019s Afghanistan Withdrawal: Report\">air defense zone<\/a> on Wednesday morning, part of what Taipei calls regular harassment by Beijing\u2064 amid heightened tensions across the Taiwan Strait.<\/p>\n<p>Democratically governed Taiwan, \u200bwhich China views as its own territory, has complained in recent years of stepped-up \u2063Chinese military activities near the island as Beijing seeks to assert its sovereignty claims.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwan&#8217;s defense ministry said that beginning \u200bat around 6 a.m., Chinese warplanes, including J-10 fighters,\u2062 had flown into the\u2063 southwestern corner of the island&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taiwan-says-28-chinese-air-force-planes-enter-defense-zone\/\" title=\"Taiwan reports 28 Chinese Air Force planes breach defense zone.\">air defense identification \u200bzone<\/a>, or ADIZ.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the Chinese aircraft crossed the Bashi Channel to\u200b carry out drills with the\u200c Chinese aircraft carrier the Shandong in \u2064the Pacific, the ministry \u200cadded.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s defense ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwan&#8217;s forces monitored the situation, including\u200d sending up its own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taliban-refuses-extension-for-u-s-withdrawal-demands-americans-stop-evacuating-afghan-nationals\/\" title=\"Taliban Refuses Extension For U.S. Withdrawal, Demands Americans Stop Evacuating Afghan Nationals\">air force planes<\/a> and\u200c activating air defense systems, the ministry added, using the normal phrasing for its response to such\u2064 Chinese incursions.<\/p>\n<p>A Chinese naval formation led by the Shandong entered the western \u200bPacific for training, Taiwan&#8217;s defense ministry said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Japan\u2019s defense ministry later said its Maritime Self-Defense Force had spotted the Shandong and five accompanying\u200b Chinese\u2064 navy vessels, including two frigates and\u2064 two missile\u200c destroyers, around 400 miles south off Japan\u2019s southwestern Miyako island \u200bon Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Japan sent a destroyer to monitor the Chinese ships and confirmed \u200cthat jet fighters and helicopters aboard the Shandong conducted landing training, the \u2062ministry added.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, more than 20 Chinese \u2063warships,\u2063 including Type\u2063 055 destroyers, sailed through the Bashi channel and Miyako Strait into the Pacific on Wednesday, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-taking-calls-with-foreign-leaders-on-behalf-of-biden-report\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris Taking Calls With Foreign Leaders On Behalf Of Biden: Report\">senior official familiar<\/a> with security planning in the region told Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese naval maneuver,\u2063 along with the training exercises by the carrier group, were an &#8220;obvious challenge&#8221; to the recent military activities by the United States and \u2064its allies in the region, the \u2062person said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They want to show that they got the total control\u200d of the west of the first island\u2064 chain,&#8221; the person \u200dsaid, referring to the area which runs from Japan through Taiwan, the Philippines and on to Borneo, enclosing China&#8217;s coastal seas.<\/p>\n<p>A U.S. and a Canadian warship sailed through the Taiwan Strait on Saturday, the\u2063 U.S. Navy said, marking the second such joint mission\u2063 since June and\u2063 coinciding with the leaders of both countries attending the G20 summit in India.<\/p>\n<p>The two countries&#8217; navies\u200d also conducted\u200c a series of exercises in the South China Sea this week, according\u200c to\u2064 the U.S. Navy.<\/p>\n<p>China has been increasing its military operations\u2063 around Taiwan over the past few years in response to what it calls
