(John Moore\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>City Taking &#8216;Historic\u2063 Action&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Mr. Harrison, reflecting on his time at HHS, shared that he\u200b and other officials had always prioritized the voluntary nature of COVID-19 vaccines.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;However, since then, you witnessed and I witnessed something that&#8217;s been heartbreaking and infuriating, which is that a program that we designed to save lives be turned into a program that destroys liberty and medical freedom,&#8221; he expressed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    Mr. Harrison is \u200bcurrently \u2062working to get his &#8220;Texas COVID Vaccine Freedom Act&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/tlodocs\/873\/billtext\/pdf\/HB00168I.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) passed during\u200c special \u200bsessions in Texas. It emphasizes \u200dthat mandates, such as masking and compulsory vaccination, violate the freedom and liberty guaranteed by the Constitutions \u2063of the\u2064 United States and the State of Texas.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to the proposal, the city will not enforce any COVID-19-related mandate that requires citizens \u2064to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/despite-insistence-by-democrat-politicians-and-medical-elites-empirical-evidence-does-not-conclusively-show-that-masks-reduce-the-spread-of-covid\/\" title=\"Despite Insistence by Democrat Politicians and Medical Elites, Empirical Evidence DOES NOT Conclusively Show that Masks Reduce the Spread of COVID\">wear face masks<\/a>, isolate at\u2062 home, or forces businesses to\u2062 alter or cease operations.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, individuals\u200b cannot\u2063 be \u2064compelled to get\u2062 vaccinated in order to keep their jobs or\u200b enjoy the conveniences of the city if they choose not to receive the shots.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal also prohibits any \u200dadverse action or penalty against residents who refuse to get \u2064vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>The vote on the COVID-19 mandate ban in Odessa comes at a time when COVID-19 cases \u2063are increasing in Texas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Odessa City Council in Texas voted to prohibit the enforcement of COVID-19 mandates by the state or federal government, aiming to protect citizens&#8217; freedoms.
