Despite the efforts of paramedics, he tragically succumbed \u2064to\u2063 his injuries at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Investigation reveals that Ms. Damron \u200dallegedly locked her son out of the vehicle before \u200cdriving away from their home. In a \u2062desperate attempt \u2063to reach his mother, the child chased after the car and tried to open the door. Tragically,\u2064 Ms. Damron \u2063continued driving, causing Duner to \u200bfall into the roadway and be \u2063fatally struck by the car.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Evidence \u2062showed Melissa \u2064knew Duner was close enough to the vehicle to present a \u200dhazard,\u200d and she drove \u2064with gross negligence, \u200bcausing her son&#8217;s death,&#8221; police \u200csaid\u2064 in a Sept. 7 press\u2062 release.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Despite the absence of alcohol or drugs \u200cin this fatal accident,\u2064 the impact on the family and community \u200bis immeasurable. Volunteers\u200b from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiporangecounty.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trauma Intervention<\/a>, a local program providing immediate emotional support in\u2062 traumatic events, \u200dresponded\u2064 to the\u200d scene to offer\u200c assistance.<\/div>\n<p>The Riverside County District \u2062Attorney&#8217;s Office is currently investigating the case.
