The bill, which \u2062is \u2063set to be\u2064 voted \u200con this week by the U.S. House of Representatives, faces an uphill battle in \u200dthe Senate. This move could accelerate\u200d the transition \u2064away from gasoline-powered vehicles. However, the \u2064House bill seeks to strip the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) \u2062of\u200d its authority to\u2064 grant \u200cthe waiver necessary for\u2064 California&#8217;s \u200dplan to take effect.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Representative John Joyce argued that California&#8217;s\u200c proposal to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-opposes-bill-to-strip-california-of-vehicle-emissions-authority\/\" title=\"White House rejects bill to revoke California's vehicle emissions authority.\">ban internal combustion engine vehicles limits\u2062 consumer choice<\/a> and infringes upon \u2063Americans&#8217; freedoms.\u200b The White House acknowledged \u200dthat California has had the authority to regulate\u2063 emissions \u200cfrom vehicles for over 50 \u200dyears but did not issue \u2063a\u2064 veto threat.\u200d The\u2062 Biden administration has refrained from endorsing a \u200bspecific date to phase out the\u2064 sale of internal combustion\u200d engine cars and trucks.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump, who is seeking the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, \u2062has\u2063 repeatedly accused \u200dthe Biden\u2062 administration of attempting to force\u200c an end \u2063to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/virginia-forced-to-comply-with-californias-ban-on-new-gas-cars\/\" title=\"Virginia Forced To Comply With California\u2019s Ban On New Gas Cars\">internal combustion vehicles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According\u200c to an EPA proposal to reduce vehicle emissions, automakers are\u2064 projected \u2063to produce 60% electric vehicles\u200c (EVs) by 2030 and 67% by 2032 \u2064to meet requirements. This is\u2062 a significant increase compared to the 5.8% \u2063of U.S. vehicles sold in 2022 that were EVs.<\/p>\n<p>California&#8217;s zero-emission rules aim to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-regulator-sees-2035-ev-mandate-as-sweet-spot\/\" title=\"California regulator sees 2035 EV mandate as \u2018sweet spot\u2019\">reduce smog-causing pollution<\/a> from light-duty vehicles by 25% by 2037. The rules mandate that by 2026, 35% of new cars sold in \u2063the state must\u200b be plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV),\u200b EVs, or hydrogen fuel \u200bcell vehicles. This proportion \u2062will rise to 68% by 2030 and 100% by \u200b2035.
