Roger Williams\u2063 Slams\u200d Small Business Administration for Inadequate Return-to-Work\u2062 Policy<\/h2>\n<p>Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX),\u2064 chairman of the House Small Business Committee, expressed his frustration with the Small Business Administration (SBA) on Tuesday, criticizing their lack of effort in bringing federal employees back to in-person work.<\/p>\n<p>Both Republicans and Democrats have called \u2064for an end to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/goldman-sachs-to-lift-covid-protocols-memo\/\" title=\"Goldman Sachs to lift COVID protocols \u2013 memo\">pandemic-era protocols<\/a> that \u200callow government \u200demployees\u2063 to work from home,\u200d leaving federal buildings in Washington, D.C. empty at the expense of taxpayers.<\/p>\n<h3>Insufficient Changes to Work-from-Home Policy<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s refreshing to see the \u200cSBA has taken the advice of this Committee and changed their work-from-home policy. However, this is still not good \u200denough,&#8221; Williams told the Washington Examiner. &#8220;The SBA, like the rest \u200dof Main Street America, should be showing up to\u2063 work, in person, \u2064every day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the SBA\u200d increased the minimum requirement for in-person work\u200c from three days per two-week period to five days. Previously, in March, the \u2063agency had a\u2064 policy of two in-person days per pay period, or one day a week.<\/p>\n<p>Williams \u200bcontinued, &#8220;Many small \u2063businesses never had the \u200cluxury to work from home, oftentimes having to decide between staying home or staying in business. The SBA allowing its employees to\u200d only come in to \u2064work for half a pay period is unacceptable in every way. It&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-gun-policies-concern-second-amendment-advocates\/\" title=\"Biden gun policies concern Second Amendment advocates\">long past time<\/a> for the SBA to take\u200c a\u200c page out of Main Street&#8217;s book and get\u2063 back to work for the American people and help our\u200c nation&#8217;s entrepreneurs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Request for a Detailed Plan<\/h3>\n<p>In February, the House passed the SHOW UP Act, which aims to end coronavirus-era work policies for federal employees. Williams \u200cand eight other Small Business Committee members \u200csent a letter to\u200b SBA Administrator Isabel\u200b Guzman, requesting \u200ca detailed plan for\u200c the agency&#8217;s return-to-work policy.<\/p>\n<p>The letter also sought \u200cinformation on the \u2062number of general schedule employees and senior executive service employees who have been working from home. It highlighted the discrepancy between regional pay\u2062 and living expenses, as well as the hierarchical equivalence of senior executive service employees to general officers in \u200dthe \u200cArmed Forces.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the deadline\u2064 for a response passing on August 28, Williams&#8217;s office \u2064stated \u2063that the SBA has yet to provide a reply.<\/p>\n<h3>Economic \u2062Impact and Taxpayer \u2063Costs<\/h3>\n<p>While some view \u200bthe return to in-person work as a matter of principle, audits have revealed the \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/salena-zito-avian-flu-is-crushing-farmers\/\" title=\"Salena Zito: Avian Flu Is Crushing Farmers\">devastating economic effects<\/a> on businesses and real \u200destate\u200b in \u200bWashington, D.C.
