McCarthy revealed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven a trusted FBI informant has \u200balleged \u2063a bribe to \u200dthe Biden \u200bfamily. Biden\u200b used his official office to coordinate with\u2062 Hunter \u200dBiden&#8217;s business partners \u200bregarding Hunter\u2019s role in Burisma, the \u200cUkrainian\u2063 energy\u2064 company.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Impeachment \u200bis a significant provision in\u200c the U.S. Constitution. According to Article\u200b 2, Section 4 \u2064of the Constitution, \u201cThe President, Vice President, \u200cand all Civil Officers \u2062of \u2064the United States shall be removed from\u2062 Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, \u2062Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>An impeachment is similar to an\u2062 indictment in a criminal proceeding. The charges, known as articles of impeachment, are a series of \u2063accusations \u200cthat must be\u2063 proven in the Senate, which acts as\u2064 a court of impeachment. Articles of impeachment\u2062 only\u2063 require\u2063 approval by a simple majority\u2064 of the \u200bHouse of Representatives before \u200dthey are sent to the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>During a presidential \u2063trial, the proceedings are presided over by the chief\u2062 justice of the United \u200cStates\u2014Chief Justice John \u2063Roberts in this case. Senators are sworn in, and a two-thirds vote is \u2063necessary \u2063for\u200c a conviction,\u2064 which would result \u200bin \u200cremoval from office.<\/p>\n<p>While presidents have been\u200c impeached in the past, no president has ever been convicted\u2064 by the Senate and removed from office.<\/p>\n<p>Former\u200b President Donald Trump holds \u200dthe distinction of\u200c being impeached twice. The first impeachment \u200boccurred in December 2019, when\u200c the then-Democratic-controlled House charged him \u200cwith abuse of power and \u2062obstruction of Congress in relation \u2063to \u2064communications with the Ukrainian president.<\/p>\n<p>He was impeached\u2064 a second time in January 2021,\u200b just a week \u200dbefore leaving office, on an article accusing him of \u2064incitement of an insurrection related to the\u200c Jan. 6 \u200cU.S. Capitol\u2063 breach, which caused\u2063 a significant delay in the\u2064 congressional \u2063certification \u200bof the\u200d 2020 election. On both occasions, he was acquitted by the\u2062 U.S. Senate.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump became \u200dthe third\u2062 president to be impeached, \u200dfollowing President Andrew\u200b Johnson in \u20631868 and\u200c President Bill Clinton in 1998, both\u200b of whom were also\u2062 acquitted by the Senate.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>President Richard Nixon resigned\u200d from office in 1974 after the House initiated impeachment proceedings\u2063 against\u2063 him but before\u2062 he\u2063 could be impeached.<\/p>\n<h2>Litany of Lawsuits<\/h2>\n<p>Attorney Curt Levey, president of the Committee for Justice, a\u200d conservative legal\u200b advocacy nonprofit,\u200c predicts that the\u2063 impeachment inquiry will lead to a flurry of \u200clitigation.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe whole point \u2064of an \u2062inquiry is\u200d to\u200d gather more facts and determine if impeachment is warranted,\u201d he told The Epoch Times. \u201cAlong the way,\u2064 a lot of lawyers\u200d will make a lot of money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just \u2062as President Trump \u200b\u201cdidn&#8217;t want to hand over\u2062 his taxes, Biden will\u2062 do everything not to hand over anything\u200b they ask for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When\u200d demands\u200d for evidence\u2063 are refused, lawsuits will inevitably follow in federal court.<\/p>\n<p>If the Biden administration invokes executive\u2064 privilege, \u201cthat can be fought out in the courts,\u201d Mr. Levey said.<\/p>\n<p>In\u200c theory, \u200badministration \u200bofficials could also be accused of obstructing Congress, but those charges can only \u2064be pursued\u200d in court if the administration chooses to do so.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Such legal disputes \u200ccould be appealed, \u200dand ultimately, it would be up to \u200bthe\u200b Supreme Court to decide \u201cif the Supreme Court \u200cwants to deal \u2062with it,\u201d Mr. Levey \u200badded.<\/p>\n<h2>Expanded Congressional Powers<\/h2>\n<p>Mr. McCarthy revealed that the impeachment-related investigations\u200c will be led by \u200dRep.\u2062 James Comer \u200c(R-Ky.), chairman\u2064 of \u2064the House\u200b Oversight Committee;\u2064 Rep.
